Because the water from the tap has been filtered and purified many many times over from the water plant before it reaches your kitchen faucet. The bottled water you find in the grocery stores and from the vending machines have been sitting on shelves and in warehouses for months and most have additives in them to increase their shelf live

I believe that it depends on what you grew up with. I lived in the country and had well water so nothing taste better than my partents water, however I have now moved to the city and cant stand the taste of my tap water, I can taste the chlorine. I would guess that you grew up drinking tap water and therefore anything else taste bad to you.

It's because normally tap water comes from a natural source and therefore contains its original components, such as minerals; whereas most bottled water passes through purification process where it lost some of its natural elements resulting to a "bland" taste.

I think it's the other way around for me. I can't drink tap water but love Dasani Bottled Water or any filtered water.

i dont know about the tap water coming from natural sources. the tap water has a lot of chlorine in it to kill any bacteria that has gotten into the water pipes.
bottled water goes through purification, alkaline, or whaterver processes. i gues thats why some of then tastes nasty.

Tap water is screened, purified and aerated.
Bottled water ( the kind that is not taken from tap-water sources) is generally not aerated so it has the earthen tastes of its location.

i dissagree. i find tap water tastes bad and bottled water tastes like nothing!

Read the ingredient list on your water bottle. Most of the time, it's not just water in there. I know Dasani puts extra crap in there that isn't necessary.
