nope, my friend went on a fruit smoothie fast for 2 weeks, and she lost a lot of weight and she was really small to begin with.

Hi,
The sugar in question is fructose and 17 grams will provide 68 calories. There are 4 calories per gram of carbohydrates regardless of the source of carbohydrate. How many servings are there in the smoothie? If more than one then multiply 68 by the number of servings for TOTAL calories from carbohydrate.
Drinking this everyday for lunch is OK and is better than soda or some sugar and fat loaded drink from say....Starbucks. Will it make you gain weight? Weight gain happens when you take in too many calories and don't expend the same number or more calories during the day. My guess is that the smoothie will not make you gain weight since you have it at lunch and you have the rest of the day to burn it off. If you however habitually have the smoothie with a large hoagie or whopper sandwich
then the chances of weight gain are greater. One more thing to keep in mind: natural sugars are far superior than high fructose corn syrup...try to limit your intake of high fructose corn syrup. It is directly related to weight gain especially in young children. Your smoothie sounds like a healthy habit...congrats.

I thought you need milk to make a smoothie. Don't even count the natural sugars in fruits, okay, because even though they are sugar, they come with so many benefits that it doesn't even matter that they're there anymore. They probably won't make you gain anything and if they do, it will be a neglible amount that would be unnoticable.

if you are reading the word 'natural' on a label, then you should know that this word may not mean exactly what you think - the food industry often uses misleading food labelling. The best way of having control of what you're eating is try to keep it simple - if you like yogurth just buy the plain yogurth and add honey and fruit at home.

I think that is probably ok......but you could consider protein shakes also (with fruit). I drink those 2 meals a day and they really fill you up. Plus they help keep your energy level high.

Natural sugar is ok since you drink them once a day only. They are not as harmful as synthetic sugar.
