Isn't that the saddest thing you've heard?
Did you know the vatican still can't decide where they stand on condom use between MARRIED partners, if one has AIDS? Yep, the jury is still out for em on that.
Boggles the mind.
(edit) Really excellent article too - thanks for posting that.

Your question is so biased and unfair. Fine. Condoms might reduce aids. Why are Christians responsible for not handing them out? Are they physically stopping others from doing it? Why don't you blame Jews for not going over there and circumcising all African males since that would reduce aids by 50-60 percent? Jeez O'Petes stop blaming Christians for all the wrongs in the world. Abstinence is not a joke by any means. It is horrible that women do not have much of a choice. It seems that condom use in that situation is like using duct tape to patch a broken dam. It is only a temporary fix. Obviously there are a lot of problems in Africa. I would say Christian groups are doing a lot more than most to help solve them. And yet it is still so easy for you to point fingers.

Come on, that would be encouraging them to have sex instead of being abstinent, and don't you think big churches with lots of room and activities are way more important than preventing aids? Oh, and especially that the pastor is well compensated for his hard "work" and drives a luxury car, this is important too.

Although I have a good friend who is a missionary, I think something should be done about groups such as this and missionaries in general. They aren't doing a good service, even though they believe that, and cause more pain and heartache then they think, especially in the poorer countries of the world. Borders on brainwashing.

Why do you blame the US and the Christians? Do they not make condoms in Europe and Asia? Why can't they send them to Africa? How about the Muslims? Did they send any? Hindus? Buddhists? Did they? I doubt it.
This sounds like another one of those American/Christian hating posts. Get off of it, we're not responsible for the entire world's problems.
If you want to stop AIDS in Africa, tell their women to hold an aspirin tightly between the knees!

It takes a mind of a rock to do nothing useful in the world, or you can apply your own remedy to the problems you see in the world. If no one notices, then wake up and talk louder. Eventual you will get their attention. However, the reaction you get may be less than you hoped for, but being heard is better than being ignored, anyday!

Isn't Africa capable of getting
their own condoms. Isn't Africa
capable of making their own
condoms. Are you suggesting
that Africans are stupid. Are you
suggesting that Africans are
getting aids not from their own
actions, but because someone
won't give them a condom.
Sounds racist.

Is it their responsibility? Once the condoms are distributed who's going to make the men wear them? The women who don't even have the power to refuse sex? I think not. And why doesn't the African government buy the condoms?

It's impossible to say. At a bare minimum, it puts strain on other charities to distribute more condoms, thus costing valuable resources. At a maximum, it could be millions of deaths.

Give me a break! If the women are not in a position to refuse sex, do you really think their partner is going to worry about using a condom? Try blaming the sinful nature of man for not-so-innocent AND innocent people dying, not Christians.

You can try to put the blame on Christian groups all you want, but the simple fact is that the sin of mankind in general is to blame. The sin of man has caused this epidemic and condoms DO NOT protect against STD'S. Read the label.
