hmmm....to be quite frankm i've never thought of anything to do with marriage up till ur question. its a toughie though... so lemme think:
well, i sure am fond of the orginial ways, so i'd absotutely HATE to be proposed to/to propose to the ONE in the traditional "down-on-one-knee" or "ring-in-the-cake" etc etc ways.... i just DISPISE conformity and i absolutely LOATHE unoriginality. life is ours and it should be lived OUR way.... so everything we do should be something WE thought of, without the help of others (ESPECIALLY television, coz what u saw thousands of other ppl are bound to also have seen!!) that totally takes the romance out of the moment. MAJOR BUMMER, if u ask me!!
so IF i WERE to propose (yes, even though i am a girl, i DO think its ok for us to break the chain and propose to HIM! ^_^), i'd probably do it in a not-so-romantic - but definately out-of-the-ordinary - way, like through a riddle he'd have to figure out, or via a song in another language i'd ask him to translate, or through a code i'd ask him to crack... well... i know those ways sound childish, but if done correctly, i'm sure they have their spark. ;-)
as for the way i would want to BE PROPOSED TO: i sincerely dont know. personally, i'd perfer to be asked to live together and only get married if children were to come into the picture (not in the sense of "woops-we didnt mean it-children" but if we were to unanimously decide we wanted them.) without kids, i do not even WANT to get married to tell the truth... i dont think it's something necessary. i mean, what good does it do, really? all it does is make u worse than u were as a mere couple. marriage is only needed when there is no trust between the couple. if u have trust, u only need marriage to give the kids a REAL family.

Well, u know that the most old tricks always did the best. If u want to do something special, proposed to her over the newspaper. This will be sooo romantic till she cannot say NO to your proposal.
Take her holidays and then secretly proposed to her and make sure u have the ring & the flowers ready, if not, the chances of getting a YES is quite slim. Girls will say you are not romantic at all.

Listen up young-buck and listen well. There is no need to get married. If you love each other why change the way things are. If you find out that your not compatible in marriage 5 years down the line, you will end having to pay alimony, your pension and possibly child support. This is not worth any relationship. If you want to ask her hand unlike any other man, ask with a prenuptual agreement. When she signs it, you'll know you have a women that is worthy of your unconditional love. Good luck!

Bring her to her favorite resturaunt. Ask the chef or whatever to bake her favorite cake, and put a ring at the bottom of it, with a note saying the will u marry me question. just make sure she doens't eat it!!!
If she's for big stuff....
Take her favorite place (a big open field on a full moon, a auditorium, w/e). in her favorite flower petals, make out the words will you marry me on the floor or something. make sure it's presented shockingly!
if she's tough and bikekr chik or something...

I'd ask when I felt the need to be hooked up with someone in that way in whatever way felt the best, however, I dont think it really matters

i would buy tickets to her favourite band or act and get them to ask from the stage. or use one of those planes that write with smoke and ask her on picnic or something with the family... thats how i wanna be asked
