I have heard and read that a lot of people gain weight, but the handful of people that I know who are on them have not gained weight. So do people gain weight or does it vary person to person? Is there at percentage who gain weight or a certain antiD that causes weight gain? Thanks

any sort of depression can be tide over by faith in GOD and sincere prayer.

Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

I think it varies from person to person and from medication to medication. I put on quite a bit of weight when I was taking paxil, but I am now taking Luvox and have not gained any weight - I might even be losing some.

I would try one of the antidepressants out for a period of time and see what kinds of side effects you get. If you are not happy with the types of side effects you are getting on a particular agent, then you can try something else.

There are many antidepressants on the market. Let your doctor know your concerns about weight gain and he/ she may be able to prescribe one that is less likely to produce this side effect.

Good luck.

Yes,people can gain weigh or loss as it was in my case. When I was on Paxil the therapist and the doctor told me that I was the first case that they saw where paxil made a person lose weight instead of gain. Go to websites like medline for more info on various meds. It will give you the side effects of the meds. Also look for the package insert that will tell you the percentages of people that will have that side effect.

I think that it will vary from person to person, but when I was on Zoloft I gained a ton of weight... so I know that sometimes anti-depressants can make a peron gain weight but I also know that other people take anti-depressants and not gained any weight from them so it really is touch and go.

It is possible to gain 100 lbs. or more on antidepressants. Check with you doctor and do you own research before deciding which one to take. It does vary with the individual also.

Absolutely. Research the specific drug you anticipate taking for possible side effects. Weight gain is practically as common as benefits from anti-D's. If you simply want an answer, again it's yes!
