It's never too early! Get in there quick or the girl you want might be gone. Most guys wait until the ast minute and dn't always get the girl they want to go with. Do it and finalise your plans so theres no doubt about who you're going with.

Girls take prom so seriously, it's never too early. Most girls would be glad to get asked to the prom a few months in advance. Unless the girl you have in mind is ridiculously popular and guys chase her like crazy, she'll probably just be happy to be guaranteed a date. (After all, most people would rather not go to prom by themselves, so this kind of stops the "What if I don't get a date?" worrying.) And she'll get to brag to her friends that she already has her prom date, which makes things even better. And you might ask well ask her before some other guy does. It would suck if you waited, and then found out she already had a date when you asked her.
It also might be good to ask her now in case she says no... that way, you have lots of time to find someone else that you might want to go with. So, go for it.

It is never too early to ask a girl to the prom. You want to make sure that you get to her before someone else steals her away, plus she needs plenty of time to find the perfect dress!

its just the right time. matter of fact u should ask at least 2 or no more than 3 girls to the prom just to have a backup incase someone decides to fail. and you are going to need time to pick ur color, reserve ur limo early, she is going to need to get her dress made, so no its the perfect time to start planning ur prom, it should be the best night of ur life. good luck

No its not too early to ask.
but read this: someone i know TOLD a girl she is going to the prom with him, like a year before the time, she laughed &said yess (they where only friends)
within the prom year, he got a girlfriend-LOL. but he kept his promise, &his girlfriend respected him for it!!!
so not too early to ask-LOL

I think you should wait...If you ask too early she might be with someone else and it would be screwed up...Sounds like you should ask her out on a date now and worry about that later...and if you already are dating ...then ask her now...Trust me I know what im saying

its never to early cuz we take about forever to pre pare pick dress clthes makeup jewlery ride and or wether or not out outfits match our dates
