Try changing the settings of your mouse. You need to set it to resemble that of the windows mode. In which a double click opens the windows and single click selects it.

Or try changing the whole environment to reflet that of win os. hope that works.

MOUSE??? Who uses a mouse??? I use a touch pad. Mouses suck plain and simple. Get a Fellowes internet touch pad. You'll never go back to anything you have to move around like a Ouija Board. Problems with such basic stuff like mouses and modems with Linux is why I junked Linux. How pathetic. It is most definitely an operating system shortcoming.

You are probably using GNOME as you desktop Environment, if this is the case search for "preferences" in your menu (most likely a red hat or a foot). In the preferences section you should see "mouse" open that up and change the settings as needed.

Sorry I cannot give you more detailed info without knowing the red hat version that you are running.

Good Luck!

Sounds like either a defective mouse, loose connection , or RH loaded wrong driver.
shut down, try different mouse is easiest way to remedy/troubleshoot.
Also alot of RH's dont like serial mice, avoid them. ps2 and 3 button, or scroll type usually work fine.

This should be handled by the menu configuration. Try a USB mouse.

Ask at http://www.linuxquestions.org

Another good distro to try is UBUNTU.
