There is good and bad in every single person; however, I cannot condone illegal immigration no matter what the individual's reasons are.
To the person who compared illegal immigration to jaywalking, that is not a proper comparison, at all. When someone jaywalks, if they are caught, they pay the price, which may be a fine. You take your chances when you break the law. Sometimes you don't get caught when you jaywalk, but that doesn't mean it is okay. Just means you took your chances and didn't get caught that time, but if you did get caught, you have no right to whine when you have to pay a fine. When you enter the country illegally, you must pay the price when you are caught, and have no right to be whining. You knew what the chances were when you did it and you did it anyways.
To the teacher, don't blame the USA on the separation of that family. They knew when they were here that they were on temporary work visas. That should have always remained foremost in their minds when they carried on setting down their roots in the country, having children, buying a home, etc., when they had not been given any indication or promise that their presence in the country was permanent. There is no one to blame for their family being presently separated, but themselves, the parents. Sure, I can feel sorry for those children, but put the blame where the blame belongs - on their parents. They do not HAVE to be separated right now - they CHOOSE to be separated while they are trying to do things legally now. Being separated for a period of time is not the end of the world - look at all the servicemen and servicewomen who are separated from their families while away from home. Lots of families have to be separated at times in their lives - sure it isn't easy, but it's not the worst thing that can happen because there is usually a time in the future that they will be reunited, making it worthwhile. If that family does not want to be separated right now, they can all return to Mexico together until Mom gets her legal papers - but, they are CHOOSING to be separated right now. This couple started having their children in the US, knowing full well that they did not have permanent residence status. They took their chances. It was no one's decision, but their own. In fact, I feel less sorry for these children than I do for children with one US citizen parent who marries an illegal immigrant and then becomes separated when the illegal is deported or while they are trying to get that person's status legalized. This particular couple are BOTH from Mexico, so they can both return along with their children, if they so choose. Frankly, I also have issues with these children having "US citizenship" just by virtue of having been born in the USA. I believe that is WRONG. I believe that a child born in the USA should only receive US citizenship if at least one of their parents is a legal US citizen. Otherwise, they should only have the citizenship of the countries of their parents.
Sorry if I sound hard here, but I am glad that it is not EASY for people to enter the US. In fact, I wish it was a lot harder for all the illegal immigrants to enter and I hope it does get much harder very soon. There is a reason for immigration to be difficult right now and national security and OUR safety is that reason.
And, as you say that Mexicans will do what's best for their families; by the same token, the USA will do what is best for the country and when that means that illegal Mexicans are found and deported, well, as you said yourself, "all is fair in love and war." Don't cry about it when you are caught.

I am a teacher of elementary school. A student in my classroom who was one of my most eager, intelligent, and well mannered young men was forced to go to Mexico because his mother did not want to become an "ILLEGAL" alien.
My student was born in the U.S. as were his 2 younger silbings. Mom had some type of permit from Mexico to come to the U.S. After coming here she met and married another Mexican here with permission legally. They had 3 children all born here. These children have never lived in Mexico. The father of her children, he has a good job and the couple is buying a house.
Her permit was expiring and they had to return to Mexico to get it extended or reissued. I have learned that it is at this point that many become illegals because they cannot afford the trip to Mexico City to go to appeal to a judge. This family flew to Mexico and the judge denied her the permit. My principal, myself, and others in the community all wrote letters to the judge in Mexico pleading that the family be united back in their home in the US.
She's going to try again in 6 months. Meanwhile the family has been split. Her children who mostly just know English are with her in Mexico while her husband came back to his good job and their home. The children need their mother and dad is at work all day. It is so sad.
This family tried to do things legally and this is what happens. It is a shame.
The people who won't say there are good illegal immigrants must not know any. I would venture to say that MOST are good people, honest, and seeking to make a better life for themselves the only way they know how. Who wouldn't do the same?

America was founded on freedom, but also pride and respect to laws set in place to keep the country a good save place. I'm a immigrant myself I came from Canada the legal way and pay my share of taxes. You ask "WHY" Americans cant say breaking the law is a good thing? I think the way you Antilles reality you could never understand a good answer. The fact is the illegals are backing up our government resources and causing nothing but hate and Chaos through out the legal system. It costs me a lot per year in insurance alone for my kids, why should illegals get free medical? its rather difficult for me to answer this question with out feeling ill.

Immigration is a legal term for entering into another country LEGALLY. What we have are a groups of people (regardless of their racial background) that have Illegally entered into our country. Race is not the issue here really but the enforcement of the laws that are designed to keep us safe and secure with in the bounds of our own nation. If these same people were coming ac cross our boarders with arms in hand and shooting us it would be called an invasion. But because so many of them are arming them selves AFTER illegally coming into our country they are being pampered and just bussed back when caught. Stop the illegal entry into this country. Close our borders to any but the legal immigration with proper visa's and/or passports.

It doesn't matter. There are laws in this country and if you want to live here you have to abide by those laws. If you want to live here, you go through the proper channels to do so. I don't know if you have noticed or not, but this country is getting very crowded. Time to close the door to illegals and kick out the ones already here.

Agreed. Most people are upset because some illegal immigrants are taking their share of the loot already stolen from tax payers. If we abolished the illegal use of Federal money to subsidize medical expenses and education, what would they really complain about? Publicly acceptable racism is still racism.

Sure there are some good illegal immigrants, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished for there crimes. All you are doing is saying the end justifies the means, and by saying that you are justifying every criminal act committed in the US.

It doesn't hurt me. i know. i understand about the illegal immigrants that come here to feed or to get medical for their families. my husband is a immigrant and it took alot $ to get him here legally. There are good and bad people in every country. My 10 month old neice died from pnemonia because the doctors didn't have the same technology and education they do over here. She died from something that over here could have been cured.

They refuse to see them as people. For some reason the great "crime" of being here without a piece of paper, without a signed permission slip from Uncle Sam is deemed as great as murder or rape these days. Funny you don't see people on here bitching about the criminal jaywalkers. Jaywalking is a crime just as much as crossing an imaginary line in the sand is. It's double standards. We are so sympathetic to American criminals but these Mexican "criminals" who want to work hard to survive are treated less than animals. People, God IS watching. He hasn't forgotten what the White men did to the Natives even though we, with our "selective memory" conveniently have.

If a person breaks into your house, wants you to educate his kids, pay his medical bills while he pays no taxes, flies a foreign flag in your front yard and calls you a racist when you try to throw him out of your house.....what would say. Sure come on in. When pigs fly you would.
