i just came back from cancun 2 days ago and i got a great dark tan. i am getting way more attention from girls in the last 2 days than i used it. why is it that girls prefer for a guy to be tanned rather than a white guy?

depends...what kind of attention are you getting? is it the "omg you're so tanned - where'd you go?" kind of attention? Or the general coming on to you? ...Also...are these random girls you meet on the street? Or friends/colleeges of yours?
I personally don't care so much either way, as long as you're not tanning like in a tanning bed, then it doesn't matter to me, if you went away and got the tan, then the girls are probably more jealous that they were stuck at home while you went on vacation. Or they're gold diggers and want you to take them with you the next time you go away. In general I think it's personality and overall looks that attract a girl, not the tan or shade of your skin. Unless you're like albino, then they may be frightened away. Just kidding.

Yes, maybe people associate pale with sickly. But tan is what society tells us is sexy. even though it raises the risk of skin cancer! Enjoy the attention until the tan fades and then deal with being comfortable in your own skin. If you are normally pale, I've found that really dark skinned people sometimes find it exotic.

yeah tan is better cause in Australia that is considered healthy. some guys suit a a pale look, but not most. I guess a tan would be weird in england where theres no sun or whatever lol

It's really just a personal preference like big muscles or long hair. Some girls are attracted to it because it's part of the 'perfect man' image that society tells them they should be looking for.

For me, I like tan guys that are more naturally tanned. i don't really like guys that put self tanner on or go to salons. it's just taking away from the manly aura from people. for you, since you came back from the beach, i'd say THATS HOT especially surfer guys or short haired spiky beautiful brown eyed jocks. its probably because we just picture guys as sexy rugged people that don't get pedicures or wax their chests.

They don't give a crap. You probably are giving off like an aura of "Damn, I had a great time and I'm feeling great" and they are picking up on it. Keep that up. THAT is probably what's going on.
