Well, We got our cat fixed today. Well, I understand she is hurting. But she couldn't walk (understandable) forwards, so she was walking backwards..... The vet said she might do that. So she walked herself into a corner, under our corner table. Now she has been sitting there for 5 hours. The vet said to not pick her up (it might tear her stitches). Now my question is.... is she going to be ok? Is it normal for her to sit in the same spot without moving for 5 hours? What if she doesnt move all night? I put her water by her, and her food. But is she ok? Is this normal?????
Also, how do they go to the bathroom with this pain and hurting. I mean if she isn't even moving to walk... how is she going to go to the bathroom? Also, she is going to have to climb into her litter box... She I get a cardboard box and cut it so she doesnt have to climb in a huge box???
How could I get her out of the corner... And If i can't is she going to be ok?
Please help me!

It sounds pretty normal. She is still somewhat sedated and a little confused. A little help getting into the litterbox when she's ready might be good but remember you withheld food and water before surgery so she may not need to go right away.
Don't worry - it sounds like normal cat behavior coming out of sedation to me.

She was put under anesthesia for the procedure and given pain medication to last her for at least 10 hours after waking up. She is probably high on the pain medication right now and might be a little paranoid. The drugs will also make her not want to eat for a little while. She should be able to get in a standard sized litter box ok on her own. If she is still acting the same way tomorrow after going to sleep and waking up then call the vet. But right now that behavior seems very normal. How you can tell when the pain medication wears off is when her pupils go back to normal size. You may have noticed they were very dialated when you brought her home.

If she just got fixed today, then I'm really surprised that the vet didn't keep her over night. EVERY time my family has ever had a pet neutered, the cat would go in let's say at 2 p.m. that afternoon and they wouldn't let us pick up the cat until 8 a.m. the next morning since they wanted to watch the cat for observations.
As far as your kitty, she will probably be a lot better tomorrow. Did the vet give you any medicine for her such as pain medicine? If she's having a hard time bending down, lift her food dishes up to her level (put a book or two under them). You may have to place her in the litterbox yourself tonight.
If you can't get her out of the corner, she'll be fine... just put an old blanket there for her to rest on. It sounds to me though like she should still be at the vet and monitored. I'm just really shocked they let her go home so early.

She will probably be ok, although that is a long time to sit still in one place. The walking backwards is probably the medicine wearing off. If she goes much longer without eating or drinking I would call my vet or a 24 hour clinic to tell them what is going on. It's pretty normal for them to act strange, but if it is prolonged I would worry. I would try to put litter in something that she can crawl in easily.

She is probably exhausted so let the girl rest comfortably.Let her sleep. No need to worry unless the area becomes very pink,,that would mean infection & a call to the vet.Offer her food & water when you see her awake. Its a good idea to put a pee pad under her to catch urine. They work very well. You can buy them at Walmart.Ole Roy brand in not expensive.Change as needed,,carefully. You can wipe fur with a washcloth. Its important though that she gets alot of rest & should be her old self in about a week. She should start eating something within a day or two.Good luck.

Be sure to call the vet in the morning if she isn't better. He may be able to give you some pain medication for her. I think that should have been done in the first place. It sounds like she might have had ketamine, an anesthesia which takes quite a long time to clear the system so she will probably be better recovered by morning.

You're cat is quite OK. She's in pain, she can only walk backwards. Poor baby. If she is not better in the morning, please do not hesitate to call the vet. He can tell you anything more you can do for your baby. He also can give her kitty pain pills. Actually, he should have kept her overnight the first day of her operation, so he could watch her for any signs of anything.

she'll be fine.. our cat hid under the bed for 9 hrs when we got him fixed...
i would use a shallow box as a lillter box for a couple of days and dont put too much litter in it so her rick of infection is less...
