Not a chance unless the U.S. is forced into another war. The military doesn't want a draft, and the only person on the entire government that seems to be advocating a draft is is Congressman Charles Rangel (D-NY). The Bush administration is against a draft, and so is 99.9% of Congress, so there is not much of a chance for a draft any time soon. Unless another war breaks out there will not be a need for a draft.

Never happen. The government will simply continue to offer greater incentives with their infamous "Cash for Life and Limb" program. If that fails, they will reduce the age by which someone can legally join...like 16. Then, they will start emptying the prisons. After that, they will start letting fags be fags, wear dresses..whatever to increase the ranks. The draft? No chance. The next president is going to be a Democrat to go along with our fine Democratic congress, so hopefully that nonsense in Iraq will come to an end. The draft will NEVER happen because of Iraq. It would take an invasion to trigger the draft.

Very likely, we just talked about this in Poli-Sci class today.

If a draft was to be reinstated, conflicts (war) would come to an end quicker than if a draft wasn't around. Why? In a draft, all eligble males would have to enter it. Bureaucrats in Washington have sons that are eligble to enter the draft. Do you know how quick they'll withdrawl from conflicts when their children is going to be drafted. According to some Poli-Scientist, that is partly why Vietnam ended the way it did. In some way, a draft can help with social conflicts and then again it can worsen social conflicts.

It would depend on who controls Congress and the presidency after the next election. Republicans are anti-draft, while Democrats tend to support a draft.

The Democratic party are too busy bumping their gums, to really start to make any strong decision for legislation. Its Democrats at its best - nothing but a bunch of lip service. That will never happen with the Democrats even if we are attacked, weak spineless fools! A draft is only instated when it is absolutely necessary, and we haven't gotten to that point yet.

No - there is no need with the end of Iraq near, the National guard and Reserve units doing more and if we go to another war the inactive reserve activated World War three would have to happen- it would also be political hell for the Republicans

The fact that you still have to register should tell you that the possibility is very real. Especially with our forces being stretched a little thin and recruitment and re-enlistments being way down. If America goes after Iran or N. Korea, I don't think there will be a choice. We will need much more manpower if we intend to win quickly and decisively.

The draft can easily be reinstated within days if necessary ,so the real question is will it be necessary to reinstate the draft.

Slim and none.. Can you imagine the political future of anyone who would try to reinstate it???

Should all out war come about, there's no time to train draftees anyway.

Anything you hear from Washington on this issue can be dismissed as political grandstanding.

Small, but if it does, there will be about 70 million troops from the US armed.
