my younger brother and sister are doing well in their studies but i want them to do their best to be someone in the future. the problem is sometimes they ignore their responsibility. I dont like to make them feel they are pressed by me rather to encourage them in a way that make them to appreciate my advise and do their job sincerely. thanks

let them know that their studies is important, to become somebody in future they need education, in this days its only educated people that are recognised, give them examples of people that studied well, make promises to them i.e. " if you study very well i will send you abroad and things like that.

BE AN EXAMPLE. What you do will make a much greater impact than what you say. Be interested in what they are learning about.... ask to see some of their papers and take them with you to read thoroughly.... I have posted college papers on the refrigerator....they act like they dont like it...but we all like a little recognition now and then... Celebrate achievements. Dont get carried away because there are a lot of classes and a lot of semesters....they roll around quick...but if you decide that at the half-way mark you go for dinner and at the final quarter theres a monetary amount.... (for my kids it was a flat $100 for all B or better and $75 for C or better).....I also said that anyone with perfect attendance would be banned from the family.... I know some will hate that...but I gave them 3 personal days a year unless the grades fell....I had to approve of the activity and sometimes I went along....but lets face it we all have too much pressure...teaching them when to take themselves seriously and how and when to take a break is a wonderful gift.... I'd say stop giving advise.....and start recognizing them as accomplished students (like you would co-workers) its only a change in attitude but its like the difference between a demand and a request. Listen to their troubles and stresses at school with an open mind...remember even that the drama in HS and MS is a very heavy influence on their day. Hopefully your parents have made it clear to them that its their responsibility and their choices have long term (but not irreversable) consequences....they raised you....and you seem to be kind, considerate and caring....if your siblings get all that and the benefit of your support and a listening ear...well WOW! Dont forget to be a big brother/sister and just have fun sometimes...they have plenty of people in authority watching for them to screw up....

In simple terms the learning process needs to be exciting and entertaining and a happy exploring experience for the kids. If you've got a busy museum near where you live, especially one with lots of workable hands on gadgets and dinos, that's the place to go.

You might also begin researching your own family history. Go back as far as you can and introduce the kids to the family in that way and it's history. Do you have a family member living or deceased who is a WW2 Veteran? This sort of discovery is interesting for kids.

How about the local history where you live?

Also try what we call 'domestic science' in UK and 'home economics' in the US. Have you tried making bread? How is it made? Find out and let the kids join in. Or, you could just try general home baking, cakes etc. Kids learn all about weights and measures this way and have fun and get to eat the result.

tell them that companies don't pay for the certificates they get but for the knowledge they have and can apply in solving the problems of that company so to be hired you have to have a certificate and afterwards knowledge has to be demonstrated by applying it in solving problems
