psychological and eating disorders have become more prevalent (it would be psychological, right?)
I'm talking about things like manic depression, add/adhd, any form of eating disorder, etc.
Why have they gotten so much more prevalent than they were in the past?

I think they're just more publicized now. Someone has an out of control kid...well, they must be ADD. Although in many cases the kids eating a ton of sugar, fat, and unhealthy foods each day. I would have to say the eating disorders also are more publicized. The public has become very shallow and since thinness and youth is in, everyone tries to strive for it even though it may be hurting themselves.

Larger number of people on the planet changes the mathematics. Take these people and give them no clearly defined roles and the human mind gets further out of whack.

Too many people have too little to do. They use whatever they can to stimulate themselves. There are new things to abuse yourself with nowadays. New ways to mutate the abuse cycle. This creates more things that can be used against against others, intentionally or not.

Take the abuse cases of years gone by and magnify that with population growth. There are as many people learning not to abuse as there are new people to abuse. So the math doesn't get any better and technically doesn't get any worse. but the same number of people are affected.
