okay so i have to ask this , and i know there are many assumtions made by people that the bible never says, for instance, we assume that the "forbidden fruit is an apple" nowhere does it say that, my question is ,,,,,,jesus was crusified on the cross because the jews didn't think that he was the messiah etc etc,but then again it says he died for our sins, so is this another assumtion? note: i am a christian and do belive in god, i am just asking to see what everyones views are

Actually, you are wrong about a couple things. Yes, people do assume that it's an apple. It never says that. That little one I find funny more than anything really. The Bible DOES say that Jesus died for our sins. In 2 Corinthians 5:21 it says, "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God" Jesus is the one without sin. He became our sin and the payment for our sins on the cross. 1 Peter 1:18-19, "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. He paid for you with the precious lifeblood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God" Again, it mentions that the blood of the sinless Christ paid our ransom. there are other places in the Bible that mention that as well. This is no misconception or assumption on the part of people. This is in scripture and is the very essense of the faith in Christ.

The bible is a poorly compiled document of poorly written myths. It is not a valid source for understanding either history or nature. The sad fact that most christians desperately seek to avoid is that there is no credible evidence to demonstrate that Jesus was a historical figure.

how can a reasonably intelligent, thoughtful, informed person accept that pile of bs. believing in god is more reasonable. skip all the mumbo jumbo and concentrate on a higher intelligence or a higher power. think of humans as god's creations like colorful urchins on the ocean floor and the eagle soaring in the clouds. we are too arrogant and that is why mumbo jumbo exists. i see puppies, baby goats, etc. playing and enjoying being alive without a bs religion to follow. however, it can serve a good purpose to create a culture and bind groups together. but most are all about leaders, powerful people, ruling their followers. claiming superiority and an inside track with god -- bs. keep it simple and think, fast and wait for wisdom. lol

Religion is, of course, full of assumptions. Considering that most of it involves believing in passed-down stories and doctrines, and has very little to do with personal experience, you must first assume that these stories and doctrines are real. Its because of people's assumptions that we have so many different religions to begin with -- jews assume that there is messiah coming but he hasn't gotten here yet, christians assume that Jesus was the messiah, muslims assume it was Mohammed ...
