Yes, it's called "hindi" because during the Ottoman Empire, it was thought to have come from India (like Westerners thought the same bird came from Turkey).

Turks commonly have turkey dinners at New Year's (after the economic developments of the 90s, American-style Christmas celebrations were co-opted for New Year's celebrations in Turkey, or in Istanbul, at least)
