I am doing the right stuff. Exercising, eating sensibly, not overdoing it. But I am sitting here, dying to eat something sweet. It is SO hard not to give in. Are there any supplements, or foods I can eat that will make me feel full and get my mind off of this?

1. Keep your diet high-fiber. Fiber fills you up.

2. Try VERY VERY hard to stick to whole grains and low or no sugar. Sugar and white carbs cause cravings and don't fill you up. If you can fight and stay away from sugar for like a week, you actually stop craving it!

3. If you seriously cannot stop, find a healthier alternative to satisfy you. Like if you want ice cream, instead have nonfat plain yogurt with frozen berries (VERY YUMMY!) or try to find some healthier baking recipes.

I made some cookies the other day from a recipe. You know you can substitute butter for applesauce or prune juice? And you could cut the amount of sugar you use in half as well. Instead of eggs, you can use eggwhites only, etc., etc. You could probably look up healthy baking substitutes/alternatives on Yahoo to find a list of healthier ingredients you can use to substitute.

4. Keep a journal/diary of what you eat and how much you eat! You can use Fitday.com or just a plain doc file to keep track. This way, if you do eat badly, you feel guilty when you have to 'fess up and enter the bad foods into your journal. This sorta makes you think twice about it.

5. Drink LOTS of water. You hear this all the time, but never really follow. SERIOUSLY.. try drinking a cup of water every hour or every half hour. I did this and I was way to full to eat anything. ;P

Of course you want something sweet you have told yourself it's not allowed which only makes you want it more. Try eating fruit like an apple with some peanut butter or some berries with a low fat or non fat yogurt. Or you can always make no pudge brownies they sell it at whole foods or a trader joes you make the brownies with non fat vanilla yogurt very simple to make and taste a lot like the real thing just don't eat the whole batch it's all about portion control but it will help with the craving of a brownie.
Congrats on your lifestyle change!!! Remember to drink plenty of water.

Congratulations on your new lifestyle change :)

My suggestion...don't deprive yourself of everything. Your body will continue to crave it and you will end up splurging your good work away.

My suggestion? Get small sweets like Hersheys' kisses and incorporate them into your caloric plan. Have 2 or so after lunch and dinner and eat them REALLY slowly.

It'll curb your sweet tooth until the next meal.

Also, brushing your teeth after every meal signals your system too. Having that minty feeling (like having a mint after an expensive dinner out) will cue your body that your meal is now over :)

Best of luck...and don't get discouraged! :)

Foods with fiber in them (like apples, oatmeal, and some cereals) help you feel fuller.

However, I'm guessing you are not really hungry; you just really really want something sweet. And that's okay. Have 1oz of dark chocolate and see if that helps. It won't ruin your diet, and DARK chocolate (not milk choc.) has antioxidants and flavanoids that boosts your immune system and releases happy endorphines. Consuming more than 1oz per day will make you gain unwanted lbs, however.

Good luck, and happy eating!

will power we were told is just too fallible at our diet lectures ----do not buy the products ----leave them at the super market not a constant struggle as if you had them at home ---do you have them in prepared packets get rid of them---- frozen out they go--- its not easy you have to be constantly on the alert at least in the early stages later it will become a habit a good habit ----nothing can beat wearing clothes that are loose things that you can eat fruit but not too much as it has sugar just takes longer to chew than the prepared stuff and it has less calories a lot less..... carrots are good peeling and washing and chewing celery and a lot of vegetables that you can munch raw so good luck and get munching............
