religion in of itself is not violent, it's the misinterpretation and misapplication of ideas by "madmen" that makes religion violent.

Too much violence in the name of religion because they think they can get away with an excuse easily in the name of God’s will and good did. True religion is not by forming any group because the purpose of religion is to realize god individually and to encourage people for the same. Groups may be formed to perform this well fare task, to up bring human beings.

Because, the religion is nothing but the creation and manipulation by the basic and ordinary human beings. Their goal and motives are different from the goal and the preachings of True Religion. Only when they realise this 'TRUTH' or have the 'inner urge' to reach their 'origin' (also sincerely wanting to elevate themseves to the higher plane) they can help stopping the violence.

Religion causes violence because one religion or another keeps thinking that theyre the "correct religion"

and True Religion without violence is either an useless religion, or a VERY good religion.

There is only one religion. That is the religion of LOVE says Shri Sathya Sai Baba. In fact all religions propagate only Love and tolerance. Jesus preached only Love. Prophet Mohammad preached love and charity. Jains abhor violence and they preach only Ahimsa. Buddah is the embodiment of compassion. Religion can not be blamed for all the conflicts of the world. It is only the followers without understanding the basic tenets assume different meanings to their Holy books and start fighting with each other. A true Christian, A true Muslim or any religious followers who are compassionate will not hate any body. In Bhagavat Geeta, Shri Krishna exhort Arjuna 'NIRDESHYA SARVA BHUTANAM' meaning that we should not hate any creature in this world. The differences we conceive is only in the Mind. So we should grow beyond our Mind and thoughts and Love all without any discrimination. nagarajan.

I totally feel you. I am a Muslim and my faith does not advocate violence. It says in the Quran to never be the agressor.lt also says in a time of war, do not destroy land or crops. It does say that we can defend ourselves and our homes but if the attacker backs down, then we must cease fighting. I know it seems like Islam condones violence but it doesn't. I can't justify individual people that kill or hurt others but I do know that Muslims are being killed and oppressed and their homes and livelihoods have been destroyed and when other Muslims stand up and fight (and fighting is hideous) they are called terrorists and the faith of Islam is called an evil ideology. But when the US or others kills thousands upon thousands of Iraqis or others, it is no big deal. They are nameless faceless Muslims, terorists.Kids women and all. Sometimes people have to defend themselves especailly if nobody is gonna do it for you. Peace is ideal but laying down while someone is killing you and your people is....hard. May God grant us all peace!

the true religion doesnt need violence. my knowledge of the truth is from God the Holy Father, it is not a "religion" its the truth as i know and have witnessed ( no im not a jehovah witness)... i dont need to be buddhist to meditate, i meditate in the knowledge of my God that i have gained through Jesus Christ... why is there so much violence in the name of religion? the answer is cuz satans best plan is to turn man against eachother, make us kill and wipe eachother out...simple enough....what better way to wipe a species out than to turn them against eachother? satan's plan is very very simple to see and it is equally easy to see what he WILL do, but this is not the same way with the Lord, His plans are always mysterious and only time reveals His plan...Jesus is the true way without violence

Look, religion is all about attaining ultimate wisdom, sooth & divinity, through the appropriate Karmas. But,due to manupulative nature of Man,people tamper Religion according to their needs. So violence is also a tamper in the religious activities

if you're a monk you wouldnt think that a certain religion causes violence. what causes violence are politics, poverty, lifestyles, racism, sexism, and lots of other factors stands in line with religion. i have met lots of other buddhists who praises other religion, like islam (the one religion that has been pointed in the name of violence), as a beautiful religion. i dont know what they thought of others (like christianity, hinduism, judaism) though...

Although all the religions preach non-violence, there is no true religion without violence..as long as hypocrite followers exist.

Sometimes, I wonder...even if god were to appear before this people..will they stop the violence or doubt whether is HE even their god.

The true religion without violence, if such a thing exists or ever can, is love.

It is not a belief. It is an action. It is not a creed, denomination, or sect; it is not even a faith. It is simply compassion for one's fellow man.

Now, you have your answer. If such a thing is possible, then a true religion without violence is possible. If not, then religion is not the way either to peace or truth.
