My 4 month old puppy is a Bassett Hound. I do as all breeders tell me to and I keep her ears clean. But when she gets excited and want to play she chews on her ears. She is not deprived of chew toys at all she more than a child, but is there something I can do to stop it?

Awwwww...

She does it because she can - heck, I'd probably chew on my ears if I could reach them, too;)

One of our clients has a basset hound that always chews on his ear when he gets to go home. It is the cutest thing! Personally, I think it gives them personality.

As long as she's not chewing pieces off of them or anything like that, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I would call and ask the breeder that question. But I would think if she is not making the ears bleed and doesn't do it all the time, there shouldn't be any concern.

They have some long ears so they hang where she can get them in her mouth. Maybe it is like a kid chewing on their long hair. It could be a nervous thing.

READ THIS ONE! READ THIS ONE! READ THIS ONE!

Its probably cause its teeth are growing in and it needs to chew.
Chew toys and tennis balls should stop it from chewing. At first she wont even touch the chew toy especially if its new. Put your scent on it and soe other peoples. After awhile it will start chewing on it and it should stop.
Chew toys can be found in all petstores.
Anything rubber is probably good. The stuft animal kind are easy to tear up and your dog might eat the stuffing and the eye balls or something.
So get a chew toy!

Kinda cute, odd but cute! I think she will grow out of it, but if she isn't hurting herself, I would not be overly concerned. You could try spraying something like sour apple or other bad tasting stuff on the chewed area.

Well as long as it is not causing any damage to the ear, and the puppy cannot feel pain, I believe it is ok.
