I have no desire whatsoever to practice it, but does anyone know very much about it, like are there really human sacrifices even though publicly it's denied, that sorta thing. I have become curious about it I suppose because I realized how secretive it can be.

What I meant by "secretive" is just what I felt I had experienced before in trying to find out what this is about. I think some people like to build up the psyco-drama a bit to make themselves seem more important/powerful, don't you?

Nop, no real human sacrifices. And LaVeyan Satanism isn't at all secretive, heck, you can find most of the books published by the Church at your local bookstore.

Human and animal sacrifices would violate the basic teachings of the Church of Satan.

Human sacrifice i not practiced by The Church of Satan, or any Theistic Satanists. In fact, you can find most of the information on LaVey Satanism in a book store. Usually if any blood is used by one, it's from a cut and letting it bleed, and putting the blood somewhere.

Satanaism as a philosophy is about indulgence, and living life to the fullest. Most Satanists are Atheistic [LaVeyan] and some are Theistic.

I'm of the Theistiic type.

Anything else specific, feel free to e-mail me.

There's the Church of Satan where people believe Satan is a force. Perhaps like Star Wars. Note: That was not a joke. The Cathedral of the Black Goat which their members believe in the devil and worship him. Then there's the Temple of Set. They worship Set, god of chaos. Which Set is Satan's equal I believe.

I read "The Satanic Bible" several times over the years (including LaVey's other books)and considered myself a follower of the "Left Hand Path" at some points in my life. I was even a member of the Temple of Set at one point.

I have changed my viewpoint by looking at the whole picture, not just the Satanic Bible. I would encourage Satanists to do the same.

LaVey was ambiguous in his approach to Satan and Satisnism...sometimes calling him a "dark force in nature", but other times he seemed to indicate "the man downstairs" as he called him, was a personification. Even his former followers like Michael Aquino (who had his own spinoff) didn't really seem to know where LaVey stood on the issue.Perhaps Lavey was trying to placate both sides of the crowd; the ones who really believed in Satan, and the ones who didn't.

LaVey lied about his accomplishments in life (orchestra member, lion tamer, etc.), and in fact, was a high school dropout. Despite claims of being a millionaire, he filled for bankruptcy in the 1990's. He no longer owned the broken down house he lived in (which had once been the infamous "black house" when he died. During the 80's, his fazmily lived in poverty and relied on handouts from his family and from public assitance (i.e., welfare, foodstamps, etc.). His teeth rotted out, which happenes to a lot of poor people.

His wife Diane sued him citing physical abuse. He had beaten her all during their 23 year shack up (they were never legally married). LaVey also abused and his his pets. A guy that beats his wife and kicks his dogs...not much of a man in anyone's book!

While LaVey claimed he trid to "keep the nuts out of the church of Satan", he claimed severalt times to have held a "cannibal feast" for the Church. What do you call a cannibal???

LaVey also forced his female followers into prostitution as part of his "Satanic sex therapy", and kept their earning, beating them when they didn't bring back enough money. In other words...he was a pimp! Despite the claim of not hurting children, LaVey admitted to police that he had been a passive observer while his own grandson Stanton was molested, (confirmed by police records and Zeena LaVey).

Most rational people are frightend by people who do things such as the following (Satanic Rituals/Lavey, yes I read it):
A human leg bone or arm bone is used in Homage to Tchort ritual (p.137)

Woman dressed as nun urinates before group into a bedpan in the Black Mass ritual (p.43)
Urine is then sprinkled like holy water (p.44)
Man climbs into coffin with nude woman (or nude man if he is gay) in Le Epais ritual (p.59).
Nude girl is used as an altar (Satanic Bible, Satanic Rituals)
A human skull is used in Die Elektrischen Vorspiele ritual (Satanic Rituals, p. 109)

Or cannibalism (LaVey's "cannibal feast" of a human leg, Church of Satan/Barton(LaVey?), Secret Life of a Satanist/Barton (LaVey?), Satan Wants You/Lyons

Most people find stuff like this psychotic and crazy. Now, eventually, when faced with this data, one must conclude:LaVey could not Satanism work. LaVey, rather than being the "alien elite" was little more than part of the criminal class. He abused women, children, & animals, and admitted to cannibalism. His magic didn't work, and died poor and bankrupt.

And before anyone says "..but he was Jayne Mansfield's lover, blah , blah, blah" or "...he had a degree in criminology, blah blah, blah," just CHECK AND SEE if he really did these things, or if he only LIED about it! You can make excuses for him all you want (so do followers of L.Ron Hubbard, Hitler, Sung Yun Moon, Etc.), but it doesn't change the fact he was a loser and a liar.

As a "philosophy", Satanism could be boiled down to hedonism, which was hardly a new idea in the 1960's. Oddly enough, most Satanists don't fit the bill as swingers. Some seem to lead fairly uneventful lives. Here's an example:

"I've been forced to give up coffee - the acid was responsible for a minor ulcer and I can no longer take any chances with my health. This was my solitary vice - now it is gone. I do not drink, do not smoke, do not use recreational drugs and have nothing remotely resembling a sex life!"
--"Lord" Egan of "The First Church of Satan"

Wow! What a swinger! So then the picture begins to develop that Satanism is not so much a philosophy of life as it is a fantasy; a means to escape a life not worth living.

it is not secretive.

the Satanic bible strictly outlaws any form of animal or human sacrifice. and thrice damned are thoes that bring harm to children.

The nine Satanic statements: These form the core of the Church of Satan beliefs. They were written by Anton LaVey. In abridged form, they state that Satan represents: Indulgence, not abstinence.
Vital existence, not spiritual pipe dreams.
Undefiled wisdom, not hypocritical self-deceit.
Kindness to those deserving of it, not love wasted on ingrates.
Vengeance, not turning the other cheek.
Responsibility to the responsible, instead of concern for psychic vampires.
Man as just another animal - the most vicious of all.
Gratification of all ones desires.
The best friend that the Christian Church has had as he has kept it in business for centuries.

The nine Satanic sins are: Stupidity, pretentiousness, solipsism, self-deceit, herd conformity, lack of perspective, forgetfulness of past orthodoxies, counterproductive pride, and lack of aesthetics. 7

The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth are: These are 11 rules of behavior written by Anton LaVey in 1967. 16 They include rules governing conversations, behavior towards guests, avoiding theft, acknowledging the power of magic, avoiding harm to children, refraining from killing animals, and behavior towards others.

I know you should not play with it. If you are a Christian and you desire to please God, to tamper with such things will grieve The Holy Spirit.

It is just what it's called...S A T A N ism

It's about the denial of God and the exaltation of the devil. He wants to be god but WILL NEVER BE ONE. PEACE!!!

And, of course, curiousity killed the cat, not satanists. Satanists just like to have a lot of sex and pretend to cast spells.

Was his name Lucifer? Satan is just hebrew for "liar", so shouldn't the religion be "Luciferism"?
