Precisely! You are a perfect candidate to get full tuiton paid precisely because of your financial situation and your mother's.

Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov

This is the federal gov'ts website where you can fill a free financial aid application. More funds are given to low income students such as yourself. Fill it out. When asked int he application whether your mother will file taxes, simply choose the option "will not file" and then they will know your mother probably wastn working.

If you are independent, you need not report your parents income. If you live only with one parent, then only report that parents income. You are allowed to report your mothers disability income if she receives it as her income. It will not affect you or her. On the contrary, it will only help give you more money for college. FAFSA favors low income students. You may even be eligible for a supplementary grant which puts an extra 200-400 dollars in your pocket plus the Pell Grant.

Or call 1-800-4-FED-AID

for additional questions. Dont worry my friend! :)

Not every applicant for federal student aid is a tax-filer and that's perfectly OK. When you start the FAFSA and get to the tax questions, you will see that it gives three options to the question "Have you filed your tax return?" These are...

Already completed
Will file
Will not file

Presumably, you will need to select "Will not file." You DO, however, need to report any income that your mother receives, even if it is untaxed. If she is receiving disability, make sure that you enter that in the appropriate section of the FAFSA (worksheet B). Keep in mind that your school has the right to ask for documentation from any FAFSA filer of any information you provide on this form. You may eventually need to provide them with statements showing the amounts of disability that she received.

I'm always amazed why people answer questions like this who don't know the answer.

What you will need to do is complete the FAFSA with your parents financial information. One of the options on the form is 'Did Not or Will Not File'. That would be the box to be checked. Use other income sources to complete the FAFSA accurately. This is not uncommon.

If your institution performs 100% verification and requires a copy of a tax return, your parents must complete a Statement of Non-Filing. Your aid office may have a form (check on-line) or they may accept a letter stating that they will not file and list the sources of income; it may not hurt to provide documentation of that income as well.

This is an easy one. You shouldn't have any problems as long as you follow directions on the FAFSA.

I had this exact problem. My parents are both disabled and did not file. You don't have to do nothing special just follow the directions on the FAFSA. If you mom can, have her go to the financial aid office at a college near you and have them assist you in filing. You dont have to go to the college just pretend your interested and put them as one of your college choices. You should probably get alot of money If your parents are disabled. beware of your states/colleges deadline man that can get you . They got me on that last year. After my college recieved my FAFSA they asked to review our income records they always hate to give money to people who need it most at colleges especially the ones that think there fancy.

If your mother is on Social Security and doesn't file taxes then just proving her income should be enough. You can show a bank statement if she gets direct deposit or get a letter from social security faxed to your financial adviser. Actually the lower your parent's income the easier it is to get aid.
