I am currently 7 months pregnant. I know that my insurance will pay only 80% of the hospital bills. I don't have money to pay for the rest of it which is why I am looking for a government program that will help me out. BTW, I am in Texas.

It depends on your state. Here in Louisiana a patient may qualify if their income is low enough and if they have over $2000 in medical bills. Check with your state to see what the qualifications are. Most of the time, the hospital will have a program for needy patient's. Call the hospital administrator and see if the facility you went to offers this.

There are many private programs that help self pay patients. You should be able to get a list of these from the hospital. Also if you pay your bill within 30-60 days in full the hospital will usually give you a discount.

I dont know of any govt programs, but contact the hospital where you received the services. Every hospital has a host of programs that assist low income individuals with their bills. There are a myriad of other programs for children, victims of violent crimes....call and see what is offered at your hospital!
