Sometimes, he who seeks does not find. It is not absurd to seek; it is only absurd to imagine finding that which one has not found. The fact that you want something to exist does not imply that it does.

The search for answers/truth is never absurd. Just because someone may believe the idea of god to be absurd, does not mean it does not exist. Just means keep looking

No. As one of the posters above cited Hebrews 11:6, God rewards those who are "earnestly seeking him."

If the question you asked was meant to say that it is futile to search for God, then look at God's Word the Bible. It is full of practical wisdom and comfort and true knowledge about God's purposes. Knowledge and wisdom that helps us get to know the personality of our Creator. Many have ignored the wisdom of God's word and they have suffered because of it. Just look at the world, it's in deep trouble. So many problems, so much injustice, so much sorrow. But God's Word tells us to search for him and it teaches us about him and also about what he is going to do and is doing about solving mankind's problems. Despite what many think, he has not just thrown us aside, he has given us his Word which tells us what his purpose regarding the earth is and that his original purpose of humans being happy and filling the earth and being perfect and living forever in complete happiness, has not changed. He is still going to make that happen. But there is something we need to do.

Isaiah 55:6,7 says: "Search for Jehovah, you people, while he may be found. Call to him while he proves to be near. Let the wicked man leave his way, and the harmful man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, who will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will forgive in a large way."

God wants people to learn to live life the way he knows is best for us. And he does know what's best for us. He is the "Maker of heaven and earth."(Psalm 115:15)

So searching for God is not absurd and he has made sure that we can find him by reading and studying his Word, the Bible, which surely has been preserved only by divine intervention throughout the many centuries. Throughout the years, much has been done in trying to get rid of the Bible, but God has preserved it for us. He wants us to read it and to know his purposes and to know him. He is not a mystery like some claim.

Yes, it is absolutely absurd to search for God, when all you have to do is speak to Him and ask for the gift of faith, which He is willing to give just for the asking. Once you have the gift of faith you don't have to search for Him, He will reveal Himself to you.

No one searched for God. No one knew about Him at all. At first, they were trying to explain the world around them in terms that could be understood and lived by, to keep order in society. Then God revealed Himself, and everything changed.

That's my theory anyway. I certainly believe that in the greater scheme of things, it was never man seeking God. It was always God seeking man. In the bible stories, you will notice a lot of people who meet God will start off by saying: "Who are you?"

I remember when people mocked me because I wanted to sell the cheese that the moon is made of to Kraft. People thought that I was absurd.
