can you help with a spanish translation? "A pesar de" - literally "to weight of" doesn't make sense to me

It is from a story where a girl named Debbie treats a girl poorly.
the statement form the text is "A peasr de Debbie, es una buena noche." I'm thinking it means something like "except for debbie..."
Can you help.

It means despite in this context but can also mean in spite of or after all.
