maybe it's not a chemical imbalance, so the meds don't work. Do you ever really honestly talk about your feelings to anyone? maybe you hold too many things inside and need to let them out? Maybe you aren't being honest with yourself about somethings that are taking a toll on your insides? Thought life is a big thing. Maybe you're feeding negative thoughts too much, and it's draining you. Try focusing on positive things, and on all the blessings you have :) You said you feel lonely a lot, maybe it's because your just living on the surface of life, and not making any deeper connections with anyone. Try opening up to someone you trust, and surrounding yourself with positive people who lift you up.

I understand, even though I don't have a PhD in psychology I know that when I feel depressed, I usually read scriptures, but if you are not religious keep a picture of the ones you love everywhere you go and keep in close contact with them. Though depression is not heritary as we grow up, we do learn life attitudes and behavioral habits from those around us, so from this point of view depression as a way of seeing and behaving can be passed on. So speak to a professional or get counseling, you don't have to restort to antidepressants and make sure you can be able to be happier on your own otherwise that would create a dependance on the antidepressants and you wouldn't want that.
good luck ;)

any sort of depression can be tide over by faith in GOD and sincere prayer.
Your prayer is from your heart. Further You must have to understood the fact that God is present in our heart. This can be realised in meditation. Further we are the creation of our own destiny. As per Hindu sacred religion, we carry all good and bad deeds life after life. There is no end unless we pray for unification of self with the divineliness.
Hence there is always a possible way to complete mergence with God in this life by a simple and wonderful meditation

Sounds like your meds aren't working quite well enough, maybe the dosage needs to be tweaked or maybe you need to be switched to one of the newer anti-depressive meds that have just come out. (i.e. Cymbalta works wonders) and it is quite possible that you need to be involved insome type of counseling along with your meds. Maybe a little talk therapy along with some new and improved meds could pull you out of you rut!
Good Luck to You!
