They do this because the child is a reflection on them. It's almost like the kid is an accessory. I had a neighbor once who would only dress her 2 year old in Gap clothing...ridiculous if you ask me. The only way I would ever buy high end clothing for a growing child is if I were to resell on ebay and get a decent portion of what i spent in the first place.

No, actually, since kids grow fast and have growth spurts, it wouldnt be wise to spend a lot of money on clothes that are probly going to be ripped torn or stained. secondly, Doing so , meaning buying only name brand clothes for a child would teavh them to be shallow against others and with what they wear. Children need to understand the value of a dollar. They should wear what you want them to wear since you are the parent and they are the child. if they dont like it tell em to get a job and they can buy it when they save up for it. target and Walmart clothes are great and are just as good as any other market out there. ;o)

I am sort of that way. NOT $156 for jeans but I dress my baby very well. We can afford moderately priced clothes. I shop a lot at baby gap, gymboree, and a few department stores. I think it is ridiculous to spend that much on some jeans. I have spent $48 on a pair of jeans but only once. I usually spend a lot of money on her shoes. I give all her clothes to a friend of mine who isn't that well off so it gives me an excuse to buy more things :) I think it really depends on your lifestyle and if you have the money.

I think dressing your children in high priced clothes is so stupid. They couldnt care less what theyre wearing. I also think, if you always have your kid in high priced clothes, then they will become snotty and think that they will always be spoiled. And then that will come back to bite you in the *** because it will cost so much money to keep them living the life style that they are use to. I think it makes much more since to buy them cheeper clothing untill they're about in 7th grade becuase it doenst really matter what you wear before that. I know for a fact that i couldnt care less what brand of clothing i wore till i was in about 8th grade.

yes some parents do that.
in the pre-school I interned in one of the kids wore the brand 'baby phat' a lot.
my little cousin isn't intentionally dressed in label clothing, but her aunt lets her pick out what ever clothes and shoes she wants. conincidently she has a tendency to like the expensive clothing. she's 4 so its not about the lable- its just the style and colors she goes for are normally brandnamed and expensive
so it can be accidental

Wow...droping that kind of money on clothes that the baby will only out grow? Can I get some of those hand me downs?Ill sell them on e-bay and donate the money to people who have kids that come along with dr and food bills.Do they have needless kids or somthing? These are the people who need debt help because they drop money they don't have on things they don't need.I can think of alot better things I can do with 156.00 dollars.Kids are expensive enough.Don't worry, when you can afford to put your kids thro collage, they will be standing around scraching there heads, and you can sit back and laugh.

That is a battle in my household. My wife is a cosmopolitan girl from Tokyo and I am a small town farm boy from Washington State. I make the money as the town newspaper editor to support her habit of buying our boys brand names, but I still run a farm half the time. Good lord, do you know how dirty they get?

I don't understand it!
I cannot afford it and even if I could would not. My son is growing so fast that his clothes are practically new when he outgrows them.
I have splurged on a GAP sweatshirt and NIKE shoes, but I usually buy on sale or look for good deals. Today I bought a $60 winter coat for next year on sale for $15. :O)

my kids wear name brands that come from Target, such as Piping Hot. I won't even spend $60 on jeans for myself let alone 156 on the kids. those people are just making trouble for themselves down the track

Thats pretty insane since they only fit for like 3 months, and thats if they dont get ruined within the first few days! If a parent has that much money to blow they should be putting it into a good education for their child.
