God has a wife, God has spirit children whom he created a planet for so they could go and learn and grow spiritually by dealing with a mortal body. All the lessons that a loving father could teach his children so they could learn and grow and have the opportunity to become like him!
As only a loving father would he also gave them free agency! The freedom to choose whether those children would accept the lessons and teachings of their father or follow the instincts and desires of the mortal man.
Sadly many ignore those teachings and claim their is no God. This a loving father sadly watches, waiting, hoping that his children will make the choices needed so they can return to him. Many will not. And will be lost forever. But, that is their choice to do so and God will not intervene!

This is an excellant question.Either you or someone you are talking to is a thinker. And God gave you your brain, so keep using it.
To answer your number 1.No human is the gatekeeper of Hell or Heaven. So no human knows how many people are in Hell. I firmly believe the true representation of the Bible is that many people will be in Heaven we didn't figure on. Take Jesus being hung between to criminals. It wasn't an accident. It is a never ending picture that God loves us all and will accept us at the lowest ( and last) point of our life.It only takes a moment to turn to God. Also, we do not specifically know the condition for all who have died without knowledge of Christ. God didn't specifically tell us, propably because we don't need to know. All we can do is try to understand God's caracter and speculate on His actions. We do know that He is holy, just, loving, all powerfull, and all knowing.. I think those are His primary character traits. People going to hell are people who have rebelled all the way to death for whatever reason. Also, look at who Jesus hung out with. It was the common people.5000 of them were so poor they didn't bring there own lunch to an all day seminar, so He had to feed them. Hookers, fraudulent IRS employees, beggars, fishermen. The only people Jesus fought with were those too proud to admit there failings. I just think it shows God's intentions. And tells us what He is looking for.
For your number two. Consider my dad. At age 34, he had everthing. A good job, toys, friends, vacation - Let the good times roll. But he gave it all up for love. Since then he's been broke, stressed out, and worn out, but in the end it's worth it. That's the way God is.Another good analogy is the relationship of a dog and its loving master. When you think about it, it is absurd to keep a friend (dog) that stinks, sheds, craps in your house, barks in the night, diggs up your lawn, tears into your trash and the neighbor's. You can't talk to it. It costs you money. Embarasses you in front of your friends. And the only practical thing it does is scare the bad guys, or get dead ducks, or heard your sheep. But every once in a while it looks at you lovingly and its all worth it. That is the only real reason most of us have dogs. They aren't good for anything else. And they aren't even good at that. But, they are man's best friend.
God has given us specific guidlines for our relationship with Him, but they are simple. It is true that God loves us all, but with the free will thing there comes an inherant failure rate. And without free will, there would be no love given back to God, which is where He was in the first place. Anytime you love someone there is a risk of failure. Your wife could leave you someday. Your kidds could turn out losers. Your friends could stab you in the back. And yet we take those chances, and have those relationships, just like God did.

The problem here is your acceptance of the notion that "God's" nature is love. Whoever told you that is a narrow-minded simpleton who thinks he can wrap up "God" in a neat and tidy package. More than likely the same person, or type of person, introduced you to the concept of "hell." Listening, or not listening, to these types of folks is your decision.

Because Jehovah is loving he wanted us to get to enjoy what he enjoys the fact that Adam and eve mess that up had nothing to do with his original purpose he was thinking about us and what he could do for us. he never gets lonely he didn't plan for Satan to come along and ruin his original intentions.
