Why hang around here if your intentions are simply to mock and abase religious groups? All of your questions in this section are directly aimed to humiliate and ridicule Christians. Don't you have anything more rewarding to do with your lives....?

First of all, so-called "atheists" haven't truly rejected faith, but have merely substituted faith in the works of man, such as the pseudo-science of 'evolution', instead of in God.

It is clear that these individuals know that their 'faith' is constructed upon ever shifting sand, such as the 'Piltdown Man', and therefore feel the need to attack Christianity, a faith which is based on the rock of God.

Furthermore, those who have rejected God must inevitably feel a void in their lives and choose to fill this void with un-earned self importance, derived from attacking Christians, as opposed to filling it with the love of God.

We can only hope that these people eventually realize the error of their ways and come into the light of God.

The proposition appears to be that any disagreement with a point of view is cruel and sarcastic. On this basis, what you have written about atheists is equally cruel and sarcastic.
You start by attacking atheists and their attitude towards other religions and change to attacking their attitudes towards Christianity.
I am a Buddhist and my beliefs have never been attacked by an atheist although sometimes they do not agree with me.
The fundamental problem is that this site is supposedly for people looking for answers to questions and when used that way their are no sarcastic and cruel attitudes.
When it is used as a platform for sermonizing and vilification of anybody not sharing a fixed belief which needs no question to be answered it degenerates into argument rather than enlightenment.
By definition an atheist can see no proof that a God exists or any proof that one does not. They have no fixed religious belief but are generally open to persuasion if some evidence could be presented. All God based religions are followed by people who need no objective proof and therefore they have all the answers based on purely subjective criteria. God based religions do not want any answers because they have them already. All they can do is question everybody else as to why they do not have the same answers.
Atheists in general can legitimately ask God based religions questions to try to understand what proof they have to substantiate the answers they have found. They can equally legitimately not accept those answers as being unsatisfactory if they do not meet any rigerous criteria of examination.
In short.
Atheists have questions about God based religions which God based religions should be able to answer concerning the proof of Gods existance.
God based religions effectively have no questions to ask since they know the answers already and have no requirement for further evidence of Gods existence or the accuracy of their own knowledge or belief.

I'm not an atheist, so I shouldn't answer for them. I do know, though, that there is no one single type of atheist. There are:
fat atheists
skinny atheists
atheists who climb on rocks
tough atheists
sissy atheists
even atheists with chicken pox

I would imagine, though, that the snarky answers here are in response to the smug questions asked by the 'holier-than-thou' set. I know it irks me to no end when I read a question like,

"Why do homosexuals insist that God made them that way?"

And then reading all of the answers written in by such kind, compassionate souls about how homosexuals are going to fry in hell and how of COURSE it's a choice because any other answer would disagree with what they hope is true from how they interpret their Bibles.

I know all Christians are not alike. I have met some truly compassionate, kind, generous Christians, both here and in the real world. But, I am afraid to say, I have met far more of the kind of 'christian' who is much more interested in telling the rest of the world how bad everyone is than they are in acting Christ-like. Maybe there are fewer of these mean-minded 'christians' than there are the big-hearted kind. But these mean ones sure are a lot louder and nastier. Maybe they just get noticed more.

Not an answer to your question, I'm sure. I know it's hard to see one's faith bashed. But - seen from the other side of the fence, a lot of 'christianity' looks like people strutting around saying, 'I'm holy and you're NOT!' and determining who, exactly is going to go to hell and why.

It is very hard not to want to make fun of that.

If the people who come here to ridicule and humiliate Christians - or anyone else for that matter - had something more fulfilling & rewarding to do .. they'd probably be out doing it.

How many times do you need it pointed out that atheism is not a religion. Are bare feet a kind of socks? We are here to educate you poor believers. Hopefully we can save a few of you from becoming cult dupes.

edit to "lokisister" the reason we don't make fun of your religion is that we can't even pronounce it (and Tor would catch us in a thunderstorm, and short out our computers with a lightening bolt if we did).

Sorry Tyler, there is just one problem. You can believe or not believe at will, maybe, but I can not. I don't consider faith to be something that is an act. I am not acting like I have no faith. I actually don't have faith. Little faith in most new theories, they need a lot of proving.
No faith at all in religion, preachers or Gods. These
God things you believe in have been tested enough and have failed.

Please tell me how I can find a respectful way to get Christians to stop trying to:

1) erode the U.S. constitution's guarantee of the separation of church & state
2) teach creationism in public science school classes
3) discredit the theory of evolution and other valid scientific theories.
4) turn the U.S. into a christian theocracy

I would be thrilled if there was a way to stop these trends without hurting the feelings of a single Christian. But I will not stop fighting against these trends just because some feelings might be hurt.

Please also remember: we are in the extreme minority, and our presence here is nonviolent.

They could say the same toward you. If being rewarded by listening to a cult lecture every Sunday gives you satisfaction, then maybe you need a little reality check now and then.

Now Im not saying that church is bad. It gives people a sense of well-being and a road that they can follow and I understand that. Yet look at the facts of life... not a book.

I'm sorry you feel that way. From my perspective, I find atheists to be very discerning between truth and fallacy. Perhaps their years of experience has made them more abrupt and straight to the point with answers. Perhaps they wish to share their experience through sarcastic examples to show the questionners how ridiculous are their questions and assumptions.

I'm sure their objective is to make people think harder, and question deeper, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

Odd, I've never had a Atheist make fun of my religion, Asatru. I wonder why? Oh that's right I don't go around demanding everyone follow my religion!

In fact, Atheists have shown me far more respect and courtesy than most Christians I have ever met.

Atheism is the rejection of religion. That means it is ABOUT religion. So this is the place to talk about it. And this question gets asked like 50 times a day. Are you guys really that insecure that you can't take criticism?

That simply isn't true. Were you hoping that we wouldn't know our own actions and intentions, so that you might trick us?
