My mother used to take Thomas Muffins, laver on tomato puree and herbs and cheese and call it mini pizzas. If you sautee some vegetables and add a little cut up sausage, luncheon meat(ham), it could make a quick snack. And its low fat(without the meat). I sometimes have a little air popped popcorn and add melted butter with spices. How about a savory french toast with tomato sauce? Steamed vegetables with a little sesame oil and soy sauce. I have a friend who will take some mackerel from the can and add it to a mashed avocado. Lovely. Or another trick he has is a frozen tuna filet/steak, add some garlic sliced in a bowl, with a couple of slices of ginger, some soy sauce and a couple of drops of oil and toss it in the microwave. Turn it several times for about 5 minutes(stop, pour sauce over and cook further) until the tuna is no longer frozen and pink in the middle. Remove the ginger and garlic and eat with steamed vegetables. Delish!!!
Buy the instant noodles, chop a scallion, some chicken in chunks, a small pepper(hot) and the oil from the noodle mix. Saute in the pan and set aside, pour hot water with the seasoning(some not all, way too salty) and place a plate on top to cook the noodles. Remove from the broth after 5 minutes or just add the chicken to the broth and add the scallions and eat. You can also add carrots sliced thinly, or whatever other vegetable you would like.

What about UFO's? Half an English Muffin with tomato sauce (ketchup) covered by tasty or cheddar shredded cheese. Pop in oven for 10 minutes at 200 degrees celsius, and you have a snack that kids love.
Also try just popping some popcorn. Not the microwaveable stuff because that is filled with bad colours, flavours and preservatives. Do you have a popcorn machine? Kids *love* putting the popcorn in and then pressing the button and watching the popcorn pop up and fill a bowl. You can buy popcorn salt in the herbs/spices section of the supermarket these days and popcorn is brilliant for after-school gatherings, is super cheap and the kids love making it and eating it.

Here is something unusual and requires some preparation in advance so that when you assemble them you will have every thing at hand.
You will need a fresh caterer's loaf of sliced bread. ( that is ,sliced lengthwise )
Grated tasty cheese.
A bowl of raw onion.
Minced meat (whatever you like cooked flavoured and cold, and as dry as possible with regard to gravy)
Sweetcorn drained
Whatever takes your fancy
Take a slice of bread, and spread it with softened butter or the spread of your choice.
Mentally divide it into three and apply filling: cheese, cheese and onion, mince, sweetcorn etc.
Fold the outside third over the filling and then fold the other third over that. Press that together and invert. Cut the roll in half and again etc until you have pieces about 6'' long 1 1/2" wide.
Work your way through the loaf alternating the fillings and freeze them.
Pack them loosely in bags so they will 'free flow'.
When you come home from school take them out of the freezer throw them on the sandwich press, go to your room and take your uniform off and redress. By that time you will have something hot and nice and have a " cup of soup " if you can buy them in your town.

I am the epitome of laziness and we always had an odd concoction of stuff in the house with always one ingredient missing of like all the easy things to make. So Here is my BEST solution :) Microwave baked potatoes. For 1 person, put two or three medium potatoes on a plate in the microwave having pierced the skins a few times on both sides. Put in the microwave for 8-12 minutes turning over once. Best to check them with a knife to see how soft they are.
Serve with sour cream or natural yoghurt and some salt
Or some grated cheese
Or Tzatsiki
or whatever you fancy as a topping really.

Take a loaf of french bread cut in half long ways then in strips length ways according to how hungry you are. Take a can of pizza sauce and whatever toppings you want exec pt cheese. put on a cookie sheet in the oven at 350 for 5-10 minutes until sauce bubbles. Take out lay slices of cheese over the top let cool completely. Put in freezer bag and put in freezer. A few minutes of work ahead of time makes great pizza boats for after school and can last in the freezer for up to 2 months. When you come home from school take one out of the freezer pop in the microwave for 2-6 minutes depending on size you make them.

My lil sis is a vegetarian and she makes this all the time and this is something i even like. Take some cream of mushroom soup, frozen mixed veges, and whatever spices you want. Add together in pan and cook until veges are done/tender. It is hot and healthy and extremely low fat. Im a very picky eater and i think that it is different but really really good.lol.

try making banana pikelets (pancakes). They are really jummy, and will keep you going.
Just add a mashed banana to your usual recipe, or use the one below.
2 cups self raising flour
2 tablespoons sugar
2 or 3 eggs (2 is cheaper, 3 tastes better)
1 roughly mashed banana
I also like to add either 1 teaspoon of mixed spice OR cinnamon, for extra taste..
then add enough milk to make the mix smooth but fairly thick
Cook on hot plate or frypan with just a little butter, turn over when bubbles appear on top.
Easy to make, delicious and healthy!! My kids LOVE this. Serve plain, buttered, or with maple syrup or even ice cream.
