My son's is the one right after that, "Have I not commanded you, be strong and of good courage, do not be afraid, nor dismayed, for The Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Mine is Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the thoughts I think toward you, says The Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

Isaiah 42:3
A bruised reed he will not break,
and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out.
We all know about the wick, but the reed refers to when Israeli children would make whistles out of reeds. They'd throw the bruised ones away (after breaking them) because they deemed them useless. God doesn't do us like that! This verse also appears in Matthew 12. If there is life, there is hope. Praise God for His enduring mercy and compassion.

I carry with me two "life verses" given to humankind by the same wondrous soul, Helen Keller.
"Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it."
This quote reminds me to not be overwhelmed and petrified by what is wrong with the world, for that will waste valuable time that could be spent righting those wrongs.
"No pessimist ever discovered the secret of the stars, or sailed to an uncharted land, or opened a new doorway for the human spirit."
This quote freed me from the chains imposed by the word "realist." I am a realist, but an unchained realist. I am not chained by the reality I see. I am freed by the reality I envision and am courageous enough to struggle for.

A few days after I came to Christ, in June of 1966, I was concerned by something someone said about not exaggerating in my newfound faith. Someone gave me Revelation 3:16. "Because you are lukewarm, and neither cold not hart, I will spit you out of my mouth". Sounds kind of negative, but it has encouraged me to be an "all the way" Christian.

Galatians 3:24 "therefore the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith." See it was the Law (10 commandments) that brings about the knowledge of sin. Paul said "...I have no known sin but by the law.." (Rom. 7:7), and it was that knowledge of sin that showed me my need for the savior.

Upon the sodden ground will fall, a seed from which will spring;
A twisted mind, a malformed life, of darkness it will be king.
