There's a free and excellent sound program called "Audacity" available for download that will do the job for you. Go to the below link and download Audacity, as well as the add-on called "LAME mp3 encoder" on the same page. Install Audacity, and put the LAME mp3 encoder in the same folder as Audacity. Here's how it will work for you.....first, start Audacity up. On the upper right you'll see a down arrow that will enable you to click on it and change the choice to "What U Hear". Get ready to start your mpeg in whatever program you use, and just before starting it, click on the "Record" button in Audacity. Then start up the mpeg, and the sound from it will be recorded as it plays. At the end of the mpeg, click on the "Stop" icon in Audacity. Now, click on "File" on the top of the Audacity choices, and choose "export as .wav" or "export as mp3" (your choice). You'll be prompted as to where to save the sound file to. That's about it. Hope this helps.
