Yes, many are homemade however, my guess is that you could buy one but i dont get into the RC stuff so I wouldnt know where to look... I would guess however that they would be at least $1000 if not more...

I have a turbine scale F-16. It has an 18lb thrust jet engine and retractable landing gear.
I have $5700 invested without the radio gear.

Yes. I 've run into pictures of home-made RCs that use pulse jet engines. Not for the beginner or faint of heart...

You can buy both jet, turbo-prop and helicopter turbine engines for R/C these days. Just be prepared to mortgage the car, house or wife to buy them, they are not cheap!

They are generally your much larger scale, with 5 to 10' wingspans. You will see them in the Model magazines or larger "rc events" I believe I have even seen a video of a rc rocket car.
