It can be variable, base on the type of foods, the amount eaten, activity after eating etc. Generally, liquids empty from the stomach very quickly, running along the lesser curve of the stomach, through the pylorus into the intestine. Solid food can sit in the stomach for an hour or two, longer if it is poorly chewed or if a person has certain conditions (eg. diabetic gastroparesis) or takes certain medications. For elective surgery we generally recommend no solid food for 6 hour prior to the operation. Except for people with very sever gastric emptying problems, this should allow your stomach to empty completely.

food stays in your stomach for an average of 4 hours. If you stomach is holding food for say 8 hours, then you need to see a gastrointolgist (GI). Many people think that adding extra fiber to your diet helps speed the process, however, all fiber does is help break down the food so that the body can absorb it easier and let the unnecessary products evacuate the body easier. Not trying to be to graphic here, just real. I deal with GI doctors every month of my special needs son's life. This is where I got the information from, it is not just an uneducated guess. If for some reason your stomach empty's faster, lucky you!

Wow, hard to tell, The pasta I had before went right through me in a mtter of minutes.

I think it depends on what the food is though, some things take longer to digest with all the acid and breaking down of the food, and the intestines soaking up the nutrients and so on and so forth

Yes, but also how muc you eat, and what. Like greasy foods takes your body longer to dissolve, so do fresh greens like broccoli. It just depends on the material of what your eating, it can be good or bad food, and can still take longer to dissolve. Portion is the biggest factor though always

Two to three hours..but you can spead it up by having fiber in your foods..half your meals should be fruit and/or veggies with each meal and drink water with your meals. Soda and other items should be like a snack...not a with a meal. If you drink water with your meals it will help break down your food and help process it faster. Don't forget that the majority of your body is made up of water. You need to give your organs water for themselves to function as they should as well
