Use the chart wizard. you can access chart wizard in 2 ways. Insert menu, Chart or look for a button in the tool bar that looks like a bar graph.

My experience with Excel 2003 is that you need to first make a pivot table from your data. This takes all of your entries and summarizes them, groups them by date or heading or whatever. Excel 2003 has a good set of instructions on how to do this if you press 'f1'.

Once you have your pivot table with the data you like you can then make a graph. The pivot table once made will actually have an icon for creating graphs located on a pivot table tool bar. This tool bar will appear anytime you click on your recently created pivot table.

Again, press 'f1' or click on 'Help'. Excel 2003 has a decent help feature. And as long as you have a backup copy of your Excel file don't be afraid to play around. It's the only way to properly learn it.

Good luck.

Excel has a tab at the top that is a simple graph wizard.
it will lead you through the type of graph, they layout, 2D or 3D and where to get your data for the graph.

Just click on that tab and you'll fnd it surprisingly friendly.
