So I have a LOT of those big hair-clips, like ones with bows, and some pretty antique-looking ones of 'gold' with flowers and such, or ones with pearls. Just straight barrettes, I guess, with decoration. They're all about 2-4" long. The question is-- what besides taking a top layer of hair and clipping it in the back-- can I do with them? They need their day out. :) Thanks!

You could always glue them around a picture frame and use them as decoration. If you want to use them for your hair pull some hair up on each side and clip back. That looks really cute on me and really cute on my mom too! So its really for all ages. It looks more sophisticated in curly hair even though mines straight whenever I'm having a day where I feel like crap wearing my hair like that makes me feel better. Oh I just realized you said they were big hair clips. I dont think two big ones on your head will look right. Try twisting your hair (chignon style) and clip it in the back.

Wear a skirt with a large hem line, and clip them to the bottom of the hem. Hopefully you won't lose too many.

put your hair in a messy bun and use the clips to hold it up. or make your hair really curly and pin some of it down with the clips in random places.
