I have allergies and a deviated septum as determined by several ENT's. Has anyone had a septoplasty and did it work? Right now the only thing that works at opening my nose is the spray called Afrin. Your thoughts please,

Thank You

I've had the septoplasty and additional roto-rooting surgery on my sinuses and it does seem to work pretty well, but it doesn't get rid of allergies - still taking Zyrtec. Watch the Afrin use, though - nasal sprays can cause a kind of rebound effect. Good luck on the surgery, and happy breathing!

If you do have a deviated septum then it can really help you. You also shouldn't use Afrin for more than 3 days otherwise your nose gets addicted to it and then you get a condition called rhinitis medicamentosa. If that is the case then surgery won't help you.

I recently had a septoplasty and let me tell you, I'm breathing a lot better now and I don't have a lot of sinus infections anymore just allergies and also my nose is filtering correctly. Yes, a Septoplasty does improve breathing.
