You would think so... that would be only fair. But before people think about what words to ban, they might think about banning words at all first.

But I think banning any word would be incredibly hard to do, no matter how rude, mean, or offensive it may be. And there are so many racial slurs! I hate to answer your question with more questions, but consider this:

How would people breaking this law be caught? Would people just report to the police when a racial slur was used? How could this be proven? Would most people consider it a waste of time?

What if a racial slur was used on someone and they didn't mind? What if it was used about someone behind their back?

Would some people consider this censorship? Would people consider this restriction of their freedom of speech?

Would people even take a law banning certain words or racial slurs seriously?

Think about it. Maybe what words to ban isn't the main question we should be considering at this time.

I personally think that if people want to say things like that, they will say them... just like even though littering is illegal in many states, people continue to throw their trash on the ground. Yes, it is sloppy. Yes, it is rude. Yes, it goes against everything they teach in sunday school... and it is against the law, but does the average joe think twice before he does it? No.

So that's what I think.

It depends on the venue. Some places the N word is inappropriate, and indeed other racial slurs could be inappropriate also. But N seems to be the most offensive, despite Huck Finn.
But yes, if you're going to ban the N word, just ban all racial slurs.
The problem is, sometimes a person might not know whether a certain word was a "slur" or just a colloquial expression.

that is ridiculous OK i use it and need to stop I'm blk but i think the point is u know its a can of worms(why would a rational person let themselves b targeted like that and have the ordacity to complain???????? hello i think they feel that alot of whites complain about minor issues for a non black to use that word so if u do i think the majority of blacks feel that whites do stuff like that cause they are oblivious to other cultures kind of like a only child type of thing like they need attention for stuff thats legitimately wrong (revers racism)we don't do blk history at our church who cares if you in Christ it shouldn't be that big of a deal people should come to a church not a business social club seminar etc i think not focusing on it so much is OK cause some do it in such an unhealthy way like what we r talking about hey I'm not Irish whys that a national holiday i think when you don't do things the right way(slavery)u set your self up for a whole month of whatever (not to be rude ) the same may happen with the Indians and the Jews hey the Indians well that's slavery too as far as I'm concerned. why play with the n word when you could politely ask black friends why they use it so much i think it is very rude to call someone colored or a ***** just try to understand that were not rainbows the ***** thing is to far back in history that its inappropriate.

In some places they ban the R word and the S words. In other places they ban rational thinking. In other places they ban science. If you ban it the word or sound will become a rallying cry for defiance of censorship.

Or maybe we'll just substitute the N word for the name Cramer.

"Cramer, Please!
"Yo Cramer"
or "Hot damn Cramer"
Start today and see how good it feels.
