I'm not familiar with the quote, but it is well known that artists are pretty much ignored until they are dead. It sucks that they don't get to enjoy the fruits of their talents.
Since this is in the R&S Section, though, I should probably add that Jesus was certainly NOT a 'good man'. A 'good man' wouldn't have claimed divinity. He was either a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord of All, as He said. Each of us must make that determination for him/herself.

It means to say that while a good man is still living, you should honor the good things which he is doing because he will know that he is being honored, but when he is dead and that will be time for you to worship, adore and honor him, he ca no longer feel such honor you are giving him. A dead person will stop from knowing anything .

Maybe this is just too simple , but to honor someone while he lives, to show your appreciation for this person, and how much he/she means to you and others is an honor in itself! But to worship this same person after death is fruitless. He/she does not know they meant something to you..at all

I believe it is better for the person to honor him while he is alive so that he knows you respect him and can feel that. What can he feel after he dies?
