My biggest concern is my cat. I wouldn't like to drive and furniture is huge. How are animals treated on planes? as luggage? A 3 day car ride for cat would not be fun for anyone

When I moved from El Paso TX to Indiana, I drove a U-Haul truck and had my car on a car dolly. My cat rode in the back of the U-Haul truck. He liked being able to climb around. I put his litter box in the very back of the truck so he would have access to it. When I stopped over night at a hotel, I just put him in his carrier and took him into the hotel with me. I DO NOT recommend putting him on a plane. They are not monitored, fed, watered, or have access to a litter box. Also, pets are put in the cargo area along with luggage and the cargo area is NOT heated/cooled.

Best is a relative term only best defined by you. But that aside the best way if money is not a concern is to hire a mover. Furniture, vehicles, household goods, cars, in fact everything but you and the animals can be shipped by them. Then you either drive or fly to your destination. Airlines ship pets in a pressurized below deck compartment where they are perfectly safe. Yes, they are considered luggage.

If your pet is small most airlines will let you have them in a carry case on your lap.

Furniture should be ship in a truck.
And cars in a freight liner.
