Is it both federally and provincially decriminalized? I have never seen a for sure answer regarding this specifically for Saskatchewan residents.

The Sask gov't fact sheet on marijuana says, "Unless you have been granted permission by the federal government, it is illegal to grow, sell or use marijuana." In theory that means even one gram (except for a few hundred folks who get medical marijuana legally).

The federal Liberals never got around to passing their decriminalization bill -- and you *know* the Conservatives won't. So pot has never been decriminalized anywhere in Canada and won't be for awhile.

Like any law though, what matters is enforcement. Most courts don't even consider small possession cases anymore. The police know that and don't want to waste their time, so they almost always just confiscate or ignore weed-smoking. Cops won't charge you unless they have some evidence of dealing, and even then you usually just get fined.

So in fact you can have up to 15 grams without sweating it. (That's what the Liberals' law would have been.)

Cannibis, i.e. pot / marijuana is completely illegal by Federal Statute in the US. No idea about our neighbor to the north, but I suspect the Monties treat it the same way.

Some US states have "medical cannibis" laws that supposedly allows certain patients whose condition / pain cannot be treated any other way to obtain / grow small amounts for self-use, but such laws are deemed moot in Federal Courts. However, some state and jurisdictions, notably in California such as Berkeley and San Francisco, have passed resolutions directing their police department to NOT aid Federal Law Enforcement in pot raids against so-called medical marijuana establishments, and to make pot enforcement a low-priority task.

Didn't I just watch Cops the other day that says that in most jurisdictions, 20 grams is considered a felony amount, enough to nail the owner for distribution?
