Bipolar disorder (also known as manic depressive disorder) is when a person has extreme mood swings. The mood swings go from mania, when a person is extremely "high" or happy and does reckless things like spend a lot of money, to depression where the person does not want to live anymore.

It is also known as Manic Depression. It means that people can become quite hyper and aggressive for some time, and then become quite depressed for another great deal of time.

Go to:

http://www.about.com

Type "bipolar" in their search box in the upper right hand corner. When you get there, you can find symptoms, causes, remedies, etc. You can take anonymous quizzes, have a newsletter delivered to your email, read onsite. It is a very helpful site.

Bipolar or also know as Manic Depression. Rapid changes in moods. A individual can be Manic, ( extremely happy, almost delusionally happy), to suicidal, ( depressed). They never experience a level of normal!! It`s a chemical imbalance that can be treated with mood stabilizers and counseling. It`s usually genetically based.
