I guess this applies mainly to girls, or gay boys. But why is it that everybody seems to be like "Wahhh my life is horrible when I'm single, I WILL NEVER BE HAPPY".

Honestly, it's not that bad. I'm thinking maybe we put our happiness in others' hands too often? Or something.

Thoughts?

I'd also like to add that A) i am 15 years old, and that B) i have had opportunities at relationships with both sexes, and as great as it felt, it's just not something I think somebody should really NEED.

And maybe I'm just a bitter person, but honestly, I don't really love anything/anybody other than myself (but not to a creepy level), and am perfectly fine with that.

Sure I'd like a successful relationship (who wouldn't?) but there is absolutely no reason to go looking for love, at this age, or even at 45.

Let it find you, if it wants to, becuase honestly It's not going to last too long anyway, so I don't see why people get worked up over it.

All are great answers, by the way =]
Appreciate your insights.

It's a status thing and an emotional thing. Having a boyfriend means you have someone who cares for you. It means you're liked and in demand.

And who else is going to let you curl up with them during movies?!

Great point: " I'm thinking maybe we put our happiness in others' hands too often". I think the issue is the fear of being alone. Most people are judged based on their status. If you are alone (female and gay boy mainly), you are considered damaged...bad goods. Something must be wrong with you if you can't get someone. The sad part is that some get so thrown into that whole thought process that they get involved with dangerous people.
Being single is great and shouldn't be taken lightly. Things always change when you step across the fence (into that greener side of the pasture). All the things you took as hinders are now being taken for granted. No more club hopping or bar hopping. No more random sex nights with no regrets because you didn't know him or care to know him. No more quiet time to yourself because someone is ALWAYS there.
I'm preaching but you get my point! There's nothing wrong with being single. Live it up while you can!

You're absolutely right. The girls who behave like this have little notion of female independence and are scared at the prospect of standing on their own, even once. I, on the other hand, celebrate singlehood. It's nice to see that some men agree with me. You get the Rio Madeira Seal of Approval!

I don't know. I'm a girl but my friends and I have created the "Single Spazzes" and we're all so happy xD We laugh so much it seriously hurts and when one of us sees a cute guy, we go beserk but get over it like 5 minutes later. It's not that special. Girls like us dont go gaa gaa over guys xP People who think that way are drama king/queens.

I have come to notice that the people who make similar statements are generally not happy with themselves. On that same note they don't know-themselves and are afraid to spend quality time alone in there own thoughts.

How can anyone be happy unless they know themselves?

I agree. You have to be happy all alone before you can be happy with someone else. I feel so sorry for teenagers and 20 somethings that need someone so badly. It's because they are so needy really.

I agree with you on this. Outsourcing your self worth on a relationship is definetly a formula for distruction. It's a bit cheesy, but you can't love anyone else until you love yourself. In the meantime...there's nothing wrong with being self supporting thru your own contributions! lol

Not all people are like that, just some. In a way, it's like how some guys just want a girlfriend that's hot. It's kind of just a stereotype of teenagers.

You CAN be happy without a g/f or b/f, but it seems more fun and fulfilling when you have someone to share your happiness with. It's feels good to know that someone wants to be with you, and it feels good to kiss and cuddle.
