The top answers are soooo correct. If it was a collector who made the promise, well, they will say anything. If they are sending someone to repossess it and you think you have an extention they will know where the vehicle is.

Only if you refinance your current contract are you free from repossession. Even if you have something in writing, they can still repo your car. When you don't pay your payments they have the power. Make partial payments if you can, because this will keep them at bay for a while. But just know, you could come home anytime and your car be gone, while you are past due on your payments.

Yes they can. If you do not have anything in writing from them stating you have an extension--you don't have an extension. They send you forms to fill out & sign, you send them back for processing. Once they process it, THEN you have an extension.
During this time sending paperwork back & forth, your vehicle is still subject to repossession.....the time to get an extension is BEFORE your payment(s) are past due.

Any time you are behind on your payments your vehicle is subject to repossession. If they gave you an extension in writing, ask them, not us. If you don't have it in written form, signed, you don't have it at all.

Yes, unless you got a revision of the contract, in writing. Why? Because you missed your payments.

Debt collectors will say anything to get money from you. If one promises you something, like an extension, get it in writing before giving them anything.

yea they can do almost anything they wont. my dad went though one of those and he ended up payin 2 and a half times what they gave him and they still tried to take the truck. the best thing that u can do now is get a lawyer or file bankruptcy cuz that is the only way you will get out from under them.

Unless you have it in writing, it would be very difficult to prove your case...so basically yes.
