Not sure how much stress you are talking about but I've found energetic walking to be a great relief for many kinds of stress. You can actually 'walk away' from it. Tensions released. Muscles relaxed. A natural tranquilizer in some ways. Better breathing adds oxygen to blood and that helps the entire body. Even the brain will function better. Try it.

Depends on what you like to do. Some people like to exercise. I like to meditate. Every day just sit and clear my mind for like 15-20 minutes. I also recently started practicing yoga. It really helps me. I also do things like keep a journal, and take time to do something relaxing for yourself, like go to coffee with a friend, or take a bubble bath. Stress can be very bad for your health. It raises your cortisol levels which can make you gain weight and eventually raise your blood pressure. It also decreases your immune system making you more susceptible to illness. You can practice trying to condition yourself to stop the stress response before it starts. Stress occurs because of your sympathetic nervous system. You can tell when this system kicks in because it causes your heart to beat faster, and your palms to be sweaty. When you notice this starting take ten deep breaths and while breathing in say "I am" and as you exhale say "relaxing" Doing this is known as biofeedback. It causes your peripheral nervous system to kick in (thats the system in control while you are relaxed) It takes practice, but you can train yourself to do this. A really good book about calming down is called The Miracle of Mindfulness by Thich Nhat Hanh

Praying, realizing that so much is not in your control anyway, so give it up to One that can control it. That's what works for me.
