i want to add that my TSH levela are considered normal and that I am very active, I exercise and lift. I am also on HRT for a hysterectomy. My thyroid was under active and had developed noduals that were choking me-they were growing out of control. Had throid probs for 10 yrs. Able to loose okay when I needed to, but now after surgery I seem stuck...

During the initial post-operative period you may have lost weight for a combination of reasons. 1) you lost muscle mass from being relatively sedentary vs your pre-operative state. 2) you still had a thyroid surge making you hyper metabolic. Presuming of course that you ever were hyper metabolic. Thyroids are removed for reasons other than hyperactivity. 3) you did not feel like eating.
As for your ability to lose weight currently. Provided that you are on appropriate hormone therapy and monitoring (TSH) you should still not have a problem. It will not be an excuse for you turning into a toad.
