I have a six week old Jack Russel and Monday (2-26-07) I took her to the vet for her six week shots and she had a reaction and her face became swollen to the point where her eyes were almost shut. So I took her back and they gave her a shot and some pills to take for the swelling. The swelling is gone but now she seems to be bloated in the middle. When I pick her up her ribcage area seems to be "gas" filled. But she hasn't throw up or had any other reactions. I'm just worried she's my very first pet ever and I don't know what to do.

She is only six weeks old and I have only had since last Sunday. She had only been "bloated" since yesterday. (2-26) When I got her home from the vet after getting the second shot, the one to help the reaction I notice later that evening that she felt to me bigger in the middle. She doesn't seem to be in pain or anything and she doesn't over eat. She eats roughly a half a cup of puppy food over the course of the day.

Overfeeding could be the culprit. Puppies just dont know when to quit eating. It could also be a reaction to the actual food ingredients. I would try a different brand and put a little less food in the bowl and give some nice tummy massages to get the intestines and bowel moving and doing their job. If that doesn't work then see the vet and they'll be able to help the poor baby. good luck.

Take her to the vet IMMEDIATELY. I could be mistaken(since this usually occurs in larger, deep-chested breeds) but this sounds a lot like a disease called 'Bloat' where the stomach twists over itself, creating a bloated(gas-filed) abdomin. If not treated, this is deadly if not treated within a very short amount of time(about 48 hours). It constricts blood flow to the stomach and can cause irreversible damage.
If this isn't Bloat and is a reaction to the medicine, still make a trip to the Emergency Vet. It's still very much a cause of concern. Good luck.

Did they not talk poisonous exposure? If the nutrition became eaten ok something of the week, it fairly is not the nutrition. it fairly is something else she's entering into. Do your pals do backyard cures? Wind flow can convey this poison spray as much as two homes away, putting it on your grass and exposing your canine to it. There are additionally insecticides positioned around the abode that a canine can react to (sprays for ants, field elder bugs, etc.). What did the canine do interior the hours in basic terms before the vomiting? became she outdoors whilst something became sprayed? Did your city spray for mosquitoes or tent caterpillars after darkish? Is somebody watering their pesticide ladden backyard and he or she's entering into the runoff? Is she chewing on something available? Did they confer with you approximately pancreatitis? IBD? have you ever tried her on some uncooked ingredients?

Call your vet right away. Tell them whats happeneing now and dont forget to tell them what medications she is on.
Sounds like the meds have given her a bloted stomch and that can be serious.
Call your vet thats the only way to know for sure and you'll feel alot better and so will your dog.

I do not want to gross you out, but has she been wormed. It sounds to me that she has intestinal worms and they are thriving on the anti-inflammatory meds. Call the doctor and ask, if it has any thing to do with the previous shot the cost should be covered. Bless you, I can not imagine the first pet being such a hyper choice. God Luck and walk her alot.

Definitely take her to the vet. My cat had a problem like that, and it turned out that he had these crystals and we ended up having to have him castrated...It was horrible. It's probably not the same thing, but it's better to take her and have it be nothing than to not take her and be sorry later.

Over eating and intestinal parasites are the two most common reasons this happens to puppies this age.
She should have been dewormed when she was vaccinated, but it is common to have to deworm them more than once.

First, call your vet. They might be able to give you some tips over the phone (like changing her food).
