When I try to run a DVD on my computer the sound is slow and the motion is also slow. It does the same thing whenever I play a CD. When I first bought my computer I didn't have this problem.
I assume I need to adjust some settings but I have no idea what I
need to do. Could someone please explain to me what they think the problem is and what I can do to fix it? I would appreciate it very very much.

Previous answers mentioned updating the sound card and video card drivers, and perhaps increasing the RAM. Those are good suggestions. Prior to doing that, though, try this; Right click on "My Computer", click on Properties, then on the Hardware tab. You'll see a bar that says Device Manager....click on that. Now, in that list of devices, find the DVD drive on your computer. Right click on that particular drive and choose "Uninstall". Once that's done, exit from there and reboot the computer. Windows will see the DVD drive as "new hardware", and re-install the driver for that drive. Often this will clear things up. If it doesn't, you can try the other suggestions, and if that doesn't work, chances are you've got a defect in the drive and may have to replace it. If you're fairly handy with simple tools it's not that difficult to do. Good luck, and hope this helps.

Maybe you need to update your video card and your sound card. The video card framereate could increase if you do this. It doesn't always clear up the crackly sound with a sound card.

your computer probably has a lot more files on it. They are slowing it down.

you gotta add more memory. you can also try to turn off your anti-virus or spyware before running the cd.
