I had all my fees paid for during my uni years but the other costs to think about are rent, bills and food.

As an example, I studied in London for 4 years and the average rent per year ranged from £3000-£5000 (so about £90-£150 per week). Rent is probably the biggest cost if you are living privately. However it probably isn't so expensive if you don't live in central London (because there is so much demand for housing), so elsewhere, this could be as low as £1000.

Then food, I think the minimum I could get by with was £20/week from Tesco shopping and cooking for myself. So if you go out, once or twice, it could be about £30-40/week for food/drinks.

So, living privately in London, I'd say I needed a minimum of £6000/year just on rent and food. This doesn't count going out, and buying yourself treats. So I was a very poor student and currently have a huge loan to pay back.

Theoretically, if you're lucky and live with rich parents who like to spoil you, then the minimum could be zero. But I think part of the university experience is to escape home and learn to manage everyday life!

i imagine Dukeofmud means stationery no longer table certain. (we do no longer ought to pay to save nevertheless - no longer yet besides). earnings money is about £55 per week all prices for the unemployed, without housing - say £60 per week for a room. notwithstanding English scholars pick to party and rigidity vehicles so plenty are racking up about 10k to 15K debit a year. minimum wages are about £5 an hour. London is diverse - 50% a minimum of above Manchester which has the biggest student inhabitants in Europe 70,000 apparently and humming.

Depends on where you are staying. If you are living at home with your parents then you probably won't need as much as somebody who is renting privately. Most students share accommodation to cut down on these costs though. I'll take a guess and say somewhere between £50 and £70 a week. :-)

Depends on where you are staying, how far you have got to travel, what books and materials do you need, how much you like to eat and finally (most important to most students) how much of an alcoholic you are.
