I'm looking for a salon in the San Diego area that specializes in - or at least is knowledgeable of - popular Japanese hairstyles for women. I have really thick Asian hair and I need hair designers who will understand my hair and know how to treat it.

Hi - I'm not sure about them knowing popular Japanese hairstyles, but I do recommend Jhig's in Mira Mesa. I'm a Japanese woman, and I get my hair cut there all the time. They are the one salon that I've found in San Diego that's actually been able to give me a decent haircut, and at an affordable price.
They're right by the Mira Mesa offramp off the 15 fwy. They did my hair for my wedding and have been doing my haircuts ever since. Give them a try...hopefully you will not be disappointed. Good luck!
