Unsure about the laws for those particular states, but more than likely a extradiction hearing will have to take place or you will have to sign what i called a waiver of extradiction. What a waiver is saying you will not protest them to come get you. This is usually the easiest because It makes the time shorter instead of dragging it all out.

It depends if you waive extradition.

If you waive extradition proceedings, then you are in AZ custody as soon as you have finished your sentence in CA. If you have minor offenses in AZ, it's probably a good idea to waive extradition hearings. AZ will come and get you a lot quicker.

If you demand an extradition hearing, they can hold you for up to 60 days in CA (last time I checked), before you get your hearing in CA. After those two months, there is about a 99% chance that you will then be extradited to AZ anyway.

I can't give you legal advice (and you probably wouldn't take it anyway because I am a prosecutor), but unless you have a serious felony in AZ, waive extradition and take care of your AZ offense. Otherwise, your just sitting...
