How come when I floss between a certain two tooths, the floss smells really bad. It just started happening recently, and also I would always get red gunk on it. It's really disgusting, how to get rid of it. This happened many times starting last week.
Ps: I wear braces since last year.

Edit: yes i use listerine, but now i use the less harsh vanilla listerine, maybe i should switch back. and lol when i floss it smells soooo bad, someone in the same room can smell it, my breath isn't bad though. I'm going to see my orthordontist soon, what should i ask him? :"i have an infection, what should i do?"

it could be your gum is irritated thats why its like that, in our office we usually teach our patient on how to floss effectively without irritating your gum.one more piece of advise for you to get rigd of this is first thing in the morning for first 3 days try to gargle with lukewarm water and salt. then after that wait for at least 3o minutes before you do your brushing, remember to use a soft bristled toothbrush so that way you wont irritate your gum and brush in a small circular motion for at least 3 minutes, i would suggest for you to brush along the gum lines as well so that your massaging your gum so it will be healthier, when you brush dont put too much pressure to it. then after your brush you can floss , if only i can show you how to do it, you will thank me for it. anyways after that first three days i would recommend for you to do the FBF method which stands for Floss Brush Floss, this helps alot especially in putting your gums back to shape. after this if still you experience this problem i would strongly suggest for you to see your dentist so that they can better assist you regarding your concern. i know its over reacting but you can also try to do the dry brushing which means brushing without toothpaste, this is good for your gums, you only have to do this like let say your done brushing okay coz this wont help much if you dont brush first with toothpaste, one more thing to say it is very important for you to floss and brush before going to bed coz since your going to bed your not gonna be active and so your saliva but the bacteria in your mouth is. so do that ok. well i hope this piece of advise help you. take care and good luck

You might wanna go in and check with you dentist.
Usually a bad smell, is a sign of infection, possibly an abcess. They smell really bad. That might also explain the blood, or it could just be a mild case of gigivitus.

Check with your dentist, as soon as possible.

In the meantime, brush and floss twice a day if possible. Use a good anti-bacterial mouthwash (Listerine) and maybe get a dental pick, they sell them in drug stores, they can also help get out hard to reach plaque.

It's bacteria and the beginings of periodontal disease. You are young and can reverse it. Floss twice a day for two weeks. Make sure you are flossing correctly (go up into your gum as far as you can). After two weeks you can get away with once every 2 days or so. You may want to see a dentist and have a deep cleaning. That will help as well.

Because of certain bacteria that stays between the teeth, usually it happens to everyone that doesn't floss after each meal.

Most likely it's blood, and you're beginning to get infection in your gums. Keep doing what you're doing, and get some antiseptic mouth wash too. That will help kill germs you can't reach with your brush or floss. Tell your orthodontist too, when you have your next appointment.

There is an infection between the teeth. Perhaps you want to get this looked at before you get to a the "dentist".

well that red gunk is probably blood and if it smells bad you should probably switch your tooth paste and see the dentist.
